Chapter 12

*Cassie's POV*

We were in Brooklyn and Nikki's dorm room talking about what we were gonna do about Brooke when she grabbed my arm.

"Gah!" I yelled.

"What?" Nicole looked back and saw Brooke's hand. "How did she do that?"

"I don't know. She just grabbed my arm." I replied.

"She could be more powerful than we know. If she could partially break Maleficent's curse to grab your arm than she has to be mega powerful." Addi said.

"What happens now then? We can't just act like she didn't just grab Cassie or the fact that she's in a freaking coma!" Megan stated.

"I don't know what we're supposed to do, but did she grab Cassie's arm on purpose or was she just trying to touch anyone?" Lizzie responded.

"Guys, something going on." I whispered shakily.

We had laid Brooklyn on her bed, but something strange was happening.

"I know it. Sevan girls are onto us. But who are they?" The head master asked the counselor.

"I don't know sir. The teachers said that they ran out but never came back in." She informed her employer.

"Well of course they couldn't use their magic to get out, we use a magic blocking spell on the dormitories at night. But they could've from out side the building." The head master thought out loud.

"Well then, we'll have to do our own investigating."

Smoke curled around Brooklyn's feet. The air was cold and humid.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"I don't know. I know a lot of things about magic but this is the first daughter of Maleficent, I don't know what's supposed to happen." Nikki said.

Bianca burst through the door. "Big news. While I was outside I cast a listening spell because when we were out side I saw a light on in the head masters office. He knows that we're onto them."

"Okay, two questions. 1: Does he know its us? 2: Do you not notice the smoke and stuff over there?" Lizzie asked, gesturing to Brooklyn.

"One if the side effects of breaking the magic here is hallucination. But I was right next to the door to the outside so it isn't as bad as it would've been." She told us.

"Interesting. Do you know what's happening?" Addi asked.

"Um. It seems like the smoke is trying to tell us something." Bianca pointed out.

We looked at it and noticed that the smoke was only around her ankles.

"Guys, the protective charm. Maybe it's her anklet that she never takes off." Megan said matter-of-factly.

It may be a little awkward for most friends if they had to reach through smoke to grab an anklet off of their sleeping friends leg. But we didn't really notice due to us trying to wake her up and stuff.

Slowly, the smoke dissipated...
