Chapter 8

*Brooklyn's POV*
Nicole had walked through the portal that would take her to Australia for a while. She told us that she didn't know what had happened to her sister, but I know that she just didn't wanted to talk about it. I had only known her for a few weeks, but I knew that sometimes, when something bad happens to your family you don't want to talk about it very much right when it happens.

"Brooke! Can I call you Brooke? We have class soon." Cassie said, pulling me from my thoughts.

We didn't have classes this morning because some of the teachers ended up getting sick with the flu or something. I don't know if any kids got it but the school had to find substitutes.

"Oh, coming." I grabbed my bag and walked with her to the other girls rooms. "Yes, you can call me Brooke if you want to."

Lizzie and I walked to Chemistry together. "Maybe, since Nicole isn't here, you can work with me and my lab partner."

"Maybe, I'll ask Mr. Smith when we get to class." Lizzie answered.

When we got to class Lizzie asked Mr. Smith if we could work together and he said yes. So we got to work and joke around together while we did the assignment.

•••After School•••

"Nicole texted me goodnight when I was in History." Addi told us.

We were in the library studying for the mid-terms. They're in a couple months but we want to be prepared. Also we had tests coming up so we were killing two birds with one stone.

We spent a good portion of our afternoon in the library. "Guys, is there such thing as studying too much?" Megan asked.

"Don't know, but maybe we should stop for now, we have other assignments coming up and we don't want to fry our brains." Addi replied.

I went back to my dorm room to work on the book report.

My laptop began beeping while I was writing. I opened it and Nicole's face was on the screen.

"Hey, it is like 11 p.m. here. Just wanted to say hi." She said.

"Hi, how is your sister." I asked.

"Oh, she's doing better. I should be back at school in the next three days. She got in a car accident but she's not too badly injured. She just hit her head trying to get out of the car." She told me.

"Oh thank goodness. Well, I'll see you in a few days! Bye!" I said, then she canceled the call.

"Sleep over! Whoop whoop whoop! Sleep over!" Cassie yelled walking into the room with Addi, Lizzie and Megan behind her.

"Nooooo! I almost got the bathroom!!!" I joked.

"We're kidding. But, real talk, how is Nicole?" Lizzie said.

"We heard you talking to her when we were outside." Megan pointed at my accusingly.

"So you guys were eavesdropping." I replied.

"We didn't say that." Cassie said in a weird voice.

"She said her sister is fine and that she will be back in the next three days." I told them.

"Oh thank goodness. Well then, see you later." They all walked out of the room.

"Don't eavesdrop on people anymore." I yelled after them.

They didn't respond which meant that they either didn't hear me or they chose to ignore me. (Probably number 2)😜

Going to a magic school was fun, but it had so much homework that it might as well have one day if class a week so that the kids can get their homework done.

"I forgot my pillow." Addi stated as she walked into my room to grab the pillow she had been holding when they had been in my room earlier. "Good bye."
