Mr.J thought Molly was different. She was different to the other doctors, she was kind, laughed at his jokes and understood him. He didn't understand why she understood him, no one understood him, but she did. They had one session a week together but she often came to his cell and sat outside, just so they could talk. He told her things that he would never tell anyone, he was spilling his secrets without realising, but she was keeping them. He was fond of her, he always looked forward to their sessions.

Molly was sat waiting to see the Joker. She hadn't made any friends while she had been in Gotham, so she always looked forward to seeing Mr.J and talking. She really liked him, she liked him almost too much. Molly knew it was wrong to have such strong feelings for someone who was know for being evil and having no heart. She knew deep down that he did have a heart and he just needed the right person to find it.

He walked in with a big smile on his face, his grills shining as some of the sunlight hit them through the tiny window in the room. He looked more alive today. When she first met him she noticed that he looked miserable and dead, but who wouldn't in a place like this.

The guards were about to walk out but Molly could see Mr.J getting irritated by his straight jacket. "can I take off his straight jacket?" she asked. They looked at her like she was crazy. "have you ever been in a straight jacket sir?" He shook his head and had a worried look on his face. "No? Then you don't know how annoying and itchy they are, I'm taking it off." They nodded, scared of her authority and left. She walked over to him and started to unstrap the jacket. "there we go." she smiled. "is that better?" she half expected him to attack but he didn't, he had passed her trust test. Now she knew that if you just listened and got to know him and connected with him, he wouldn't feel the need to hurt you. "yes, thank you. that jacket is awful. I've been in it for about 9 months." he said whilst stretching his arms. Molly noticed the tattoos that he had on his hands and arms. She couldn't help but admire the smile on his left hand.

"Do you like it?" he asked as he watched her examine the tattoos, especially the smile on his hand. He watched the corners of her mouth twitch up as she looked at each one. "Yes, It's very unique" she smiled brightly. She opened up his file and skimmed her finger down the page. "Today we are going to dig deeper into your childhood. So tell me, what did you get up to when you were a kid?" She searched his eyes to see that glint of humanity left, but it wasn't there. As soon as she mentioned his childhood it was as if he just switched his eyes off. They were dull, no light to be seen. "My childhood?" he snarled. "why do you want to hear about that. It wasn't cheerful, my mom died and my dad beat me." Molly's smile faded as she realised what he had just said. "oh.. I'm sorry." She looked down at the desk and played with her hands. "hey, its okay" he put his hand on top of hers and stopped Molly from playing with her hands. "why don't you tell me about your childhood, what's it like growing up in England?" His eyes had lit up again as he awaited for the answer, he longed for a story that was adventurous and interesting but no it wasn't. "My childhood was average, I went to school, hated it obviously then I went to high school and I hated it even more." Mr.J watched as he saw the anger in her eyes turn to sadness then back to her usual self. He watched as her body tensed up when she said hate, how her fists clenched, her jaw clenched, how her eyes narrowed. "why did you move to Gotham?" he said breaking the tension between them. " I wanted to get away from England and i applied for this job and got it straightaway. We shouldn't be talking about me we should be talking about you!" She watched as he smiled. He leaned in and she did too. "Talking to you calms me but no amount of talking about my problems will solve them, I'll always be like this" he whispered.

"How do you know? You haven't even tried. You have had 6 psychiatrists over the past 9 months and you scared them all away. That tells me that you don't give a damn about yourself. But you know what Mr.J, you should."

He sat back in his chair and threw his hands up in the air. This caused Molly to tense up and she got ready to call the guards in. Instead of attacking, Mr.J mimicked her words in a very high pitched voice and terrible attempt at an English accent. She started to laugh after he was done.

"Do I really sound like that?" She giggled. He gave it some thought and replied.

"No" He smiled and looked down at the table, hiding the blush on his face.

No one had ever shown that they cared for him and that made him feel warm inside for the first time in a long, long time.

The session was over now and the joker was taken back to his cell and Molly was sat at her desk looking over what she knew about Mr.J. She knew practically nothing, she didn't know how to get through to him, to let him know that it was ok to tell her things. She wasn't going to tell anyone, it stayed between them. She let out a frustrated sigh and got up and left.

It was 4:00pm so she decided to go out into Gotham. She went to a local coffee shop and got a black coffee to go and started walking down the street. Suddenly, out of nowhere a man knocked her coffee out of her hand and it spilt over her skirt.

"I am so sorry, let me buy you a knew one." The man said to Molly as she wiped the coffee off of her skirt and looked up at the handsome stranger.

"You don't have to, its fine."

"No, no, please, I insist." He flashed a dazzling smile with an apologetic look.
She agreed and followed the guy back into the coffee shop.

"My names Bruce by the way, Bruce Wayne." He smiled and held out his hand.

"Molly Ross" she replied with a small smile. She took his hand and shook it.

Bruce ordered her a new coffee and one for himself. He gestured to a table and they sat down.

"So, you're a doctor"

"Yes, how did you know?" Molly asked with confusion.

"You still have your name badge on" He chuckled. He watched as her cheeks flushed a bright shade of pink and she looked down at her badge.

"What do you do for a living?" She asked as she scanned his suit for a badge or something that indicated where he worked.

"I actually run Wayne enterprises"  He could tell that she was new to  Gotham as she didn't know who he was and what Wayne enterprises is.

He realised how beautiful she was, she kept getting prettier by the minute. He liked how when she smiled and laughed, tiny wrinkles would appear in the corners of her eyes. She wasn't like all the other girls just wanting to be his friend because he was wealthy.

They laughed and talked for a good hour, they exchanged numbers and went their separate ways. Molly was glad that she had made a friend that she could actually hang out with outside of the asylum.

When she got home she had a quick shower and ordered Chinese food. Her phone went off as she was eating. It was a text from Bruce.

B: Hey, I'm hosting an event this Friday for charity and I was wondering if you wanted to come?

She smiled at the text. She now had an excuse to go dress shopping.

M: Yes, of course I'll come!

B: Great, I'll pick you up at 7:00pm.

M: Okay, cant wait!

Molly was ecstatic, she couldn't wait until Friday. Now she had some shopping to do.
