In the movie version, Tangled is where Rapunzel is born with the magical ability to heal the sick and injured and rejuvenate the elderly via her long golden hair. Instead of a prince, she is saved from her tower by a charismatic, womanizing their named Flynn Rider. Her abductor (and surrogate mother), Mother Gothel, takes advantage of her magical power to keep herself young.
In the Brothers Grimm Rapunzel, the prince copulates with Rapunzel and impregnates her during a forbidden visit. Her abductor, the witch Gothel, learns of this, cuts her hair short and casts her out alone in the desert where she gives birth to twins and lives in misery for years. As for the prince, Gothel tricks him into climbing the tower where she eventually shoves him off into a thorn bush and gets his eyes poked out. The blind prince is left to wander the forest, eating only roots and grass. Rapunzel finally reunites with her prince and cures his blindness with a magic tear and both live happily ever after.
