AN Listen, I know that adoptions are long, hard processes, but this is fanfiction so it's not happening like that.

Neals POV

I dragged myself out of bed and snagged a piece of fruit from the cafeteria before finding a quiet corner to curl up with my sketch book. I just got returned last week after a couple decided I was too disobedient. It was a miracle they even looked at me though, with how the employees here talk about me.

I don't plan on ever finding a family. Conning doesn't need a family. I've been alone longer than I've been here. I kept sketching as I saw people walk by in my peripheral vision.

Peters POV

"So, what type of child are you two looking for?" The receptionist asked.

"An older child, preferably male." I answered quickly. She led us to a room with a couple other couples and told us to look around. Elizabeths eye was caught by a boy in a corner. He was sketching and it was stunning. He looked kind of lanky and had messy, black hair. He noticed but did his best not to look up at anyone in the room.

"What about him?" El asked pointing to the boy. I nodded at her. He was kind of adorable.

" You don't want him. He's trouble. He just came back last week. That couple only lasted 3 days." El looked at her infuriated.

"Well I want him. He won't be coming back after 3 days." El was loud and it caught the boys attention. I walked over as he looked up.

"Hey kid, what's your name?" I asked him softly.

"Neal." He answered quick and short.

"Well, my wife over there wants you real bad, and let me just say that she normally gets her way."

"Really?" He got so exicited then his mood just dropped."She wouldn't if she knew me. I'm more trouble than I'm worth." He sounded so sad.

"Aww, Neal, I'm sure that's not true. You're obviously very talented." I gestured to his sketchbook. He blushed bright red. I saw Elizabeth walking over triumphantly after her argument.

"Neal, this is my wife, Elizabeth. Elizabeth, neal. Did you win your quarrel?" She nodded as she pulled Neal into a hug. He just awkwardly stood there in shock.

"We have to sign a couple papers then Neal here is our legal son." She was still hugging him and he started to melt into her touch."Neal, can you go pack yourself?" She asked him.

"I still haven't unpacked from last week." He spoke shyly.

"Even better then, go grab and we will sign the paperwork." She kissed his forehead then gave him a nudge to go do his task.

We went and did our paperwork then walked to the lobby. Neal was there with a medium suitcase, 2 backpacks, and a messenger bag. El and I helped him carry his bags. The ride home was quiet and Neal never really met eye contact with either of us. We got home and showed Neal his room.

"Do you paint?" I asked him. He nodded. "How about we get you some paint and you paint your room however you want it?" His face lit up and I smiled.

"You can unpack and then come down and join us for dinner."  El hugged him and went downstairs as I followed.
