I stood waiting behind my front door. I got ready two hours ago, and I've been waiting for an hour now. It wasn't because Jungkook was late or anything. I was just too excited for the date.
My phone lit up and I smiled as I saw his text message.
heyyyy (y/n)! ready yet? i'll be there in five mins
After making sure to wait for at least one minute before responding to make sure that I didn't look like I've been waiting for his text this whole time, I responded back.
yep, i'm ready. can't wait :)
He still didn't tell me where we'll be going for this date. It was just like him to want to keep it a surprise. Half of me still couldn't believe that he asked me out. It was just a couple days ago, while we were walking home from school. Right when we reached my house, he asked to speak with me for a moment. I sighed happily at the memory.
Before I knew it, the doorbell rang. I shot upright and quickly fixed my hair and smoothed out my skirt. Putting my phone back into my purse, I unlocked the door and opened it.
Jungkook stood there, with a navy blue oversized button-down shirt, ripped jeans, and brown boots. He was smiling, showing off his bunny teeth that I've always found cute.
"You look nice," he complimented. You, too.
"Thank you," I blushed. He waved his hand towards the car. I locked my door and walked next to him to the car.
He opened the passenger's door for me, and I stepped in. The car was clean and smelled aromatic. Jungkook sat down in front of the wheel and turned on music. "Butterfly" started playing.
"This song's sad," I commented.
"You can skip to the next song. The playlist is on shuffle right now," Jungkook responded, keeping his eyes on the road. He was a pretty safe driver.
"It's okay. I like it," I smiled. Although it's not exactly the best song for a date, it's nice to know what kind of songs Jungkook listens to.
We continued to listen to his playlist during the whole ride, which was about ten to fifteen minutes long. We didn't talk much, and when we did, it was usually about the song that was on at the time.
The car slowed down and Jungkook parked it. I looked out the window and saw a huge building. A giant marble statue of a whale stood in front of it.
"An aquarium?" I asked him. I was thinking that we were going to a movie theater or something.
Jungkook looked uneasy. "Oh, do you dislike aquariums?"
"No, no, it's not that," I tried to think of what to say. "I like aquariums. It's just been a long time since I've been to one, that's all."
He looked relieved. "That's good. I was beginning to feel bad for bringing you here for our first date."
We walked alongside each other inside the building. His hand brushed mine, but they never met. Part of me wanted to hold his hand, but I didn't want to make things awkward.
After buying the tickets, we walked over to the conservation hall. The lights in the exhibits were the only sources of light in the room. Colorful fish swam back and forth, and some hid in the large rocks that they were given.
"They're so cute and tiny," I marveled at the fish, touching the glass with my hands. Jungkook nodded and smiled. He followed suit and touched the glass with his index finger.
We stood incredibly close to each other. My heart was beating rapidly. I hope he can't heart it. I looked up at him, and he gazed back at me. Offering him a small smile, I turned back to the fish.

One hour later we were looking at the walruses, penguins, and sharks. Occasionally Jungkook will put his head down and comb his hair through with his fingers, and then when he looks up his hair bounces. And whenever he did this a part of me dies because it makes me want to touch his hair. And whenever he smiles at me, it feels like a big part of me dies because his eyes scrunch up and his smile wrinkles show. Instead of looking at the exhibits at the aquarium, I always catch myself looking at him instead.
The day slowly came to an end, and we were back in the car driving home. Nothing big happened during the date, which was a bit disappointing. No holding hands, no kissing, no hugging, nothing. It's even worse because his hand kept on brushing mine, but he never made the move.
"So, did you like it?" Jungkook asked as he drove to my house.
"Yeah, the aquarium is a nice spot," I replied. His hands gripped the wheel. If only he gripped mine like that. Except not that tightly.
"I'm glad. Any ideas for a second date?"
A second date? "I don't know... Maybe a long walk at the beach?"
"The beach, huh?" he trailed off. I bit my lip. Did he not like my idea?
He slowed down once we were in front my house. It was almost dark out.
"Jungkook," I said, holding out my hand. "Give me your hand."
He uncertainly put his hand over mine. But once they met, they held onto each other. His hand was warm, which was perfect because my hands were always cold.
"You know that I'm fine with holding hands, right?" I asked him. He smiled at me, which caused me to smile back.
"Sorry, I just didn't want to ruin the moment. I'll make sure to do that at the beach," he answered. His eyes were sparkling. Damn, I'm lucky to have been asked out by him.
I glanced at the digital clock. My parents will be home soon. It's now or never.
After a brief moment of hesitation, I kissed his cheek. His eyes widened, but when I pulled back, he grinned.
I stepped out of the car and he lowered the window.
"When should we go out again?" Jungkook called out as I walked to the front door.
"Anytime. I'm free every day," I replied. I looked behind me as I unlocked the door. Jungkook was poking his head out of the window.
Jungkook laughed. "Not for long."
I used that gif for the second chapter of I Need U lmao I love it so much. And I hope you guys enjoyed this short story. I'll be doing the other members too. Each member has their own storyline :) And don't worry, the other stories will have more action in them.
