Ellie
I took a swig of my beer; feeling the cold, wet flask against my lips. I drank and drank until I had to put it back down beside me on the marbled counter. As the bottle made an audible sound from touching the counter, I glanced out the windowpane and took in the beautiful clear sky, just above the towering buildings. It made the bottle look very out of place. If I were to lie down, it'd look like a giant bottle standing among the buildings, I thought to myself.
I could never get used to this kind of scenery. It wasn't long since I've moved out of my parents' and lived with my sister and her boyfriend, Daniel. Two good people, we had our moments together but at the moment, they were out having dinner without me. As I was saying, Daniel lived on the forty sixth floor and that was where we exactly were.
The faint sound of television could be heard under Ezra's deep, husky voice.
"Like I said, it seems totally okay for women to reject my fellow species but when it comes to us? Heck, we become the scum of the earth." Ezra continued to ramble about double standards. How did we get to double standards?
I ignored his constant ranting, both of us aware of the change of subject. "What the junk did you buy in HMV again?" Before you ask what HMV is, it's just the most awesome shop ever. Full of fandoms and their shirts, badges, posters and lots more. Films, vinyls, toy collections, action figure and I'm just going to stop myself here; I could go on forever.
Ezra didn't seem to mind, he probably was done ranting. "Harley Quinn key chain, what else?" He said as he fiddled with his newly bought key chain attached to one of the zippers on his bag.
Piper's voice could be heard which caught my attention. She said something about a gangster with an 'A', just Piper being Piper.
"Next time, I'll get a Poison Ivy one." I said, my attention still on Piper and now, Chang.
"Hey, kind of like a matching key chain." He said as he smiled, his boyish smile.
It wasn't hard falling in love with him, heck, I could even get him to be with me. The comfort of being together, the fun we'd be sharing, and the memories we'd be creating, it was already there set for us. Except Ezra was like an older brother and I had a sweet boyfriend. What more could I ask for?
"Yeah," I answered, before taking another swig of my beer then licking my lips twice.
Just beside my thigh I felt a vibration, it seemed to be Ezra's phone. Half of his phone was beneath my inner thigh, awkwardly sending tingles near my lower region. I immediately lifted my leg to snatch it away, giving it to Ezra as I tried to hide my flustered face.
He didn't seem to notice my little incident. "Yes, ma?" He answered the phone call quickly. "I'll be staying a bit longer in Ellie's house, is that okay?" He then asks politely as he leaned his head down on my shoulder. "I'll call you when I head back home, I love you. Oh and, it's around seven-fifteen." After he hung up, I decided to speak.
"Isn't it a little late?" I asked even though I didn't want him to leave. I always wanted a company, it didn't matter how many, as long as I had someone to talk to. Dramatic, I know.
"Nah, plus, I plan to wipe out all your beers in the fridge." He said with a grin, showing off his pearly whites.
"Hey! They're not my beer!" I quickly exclaimed, swinging my head to face his mischievous smile and narrow eyes.
"Whether you want me or not, I'm still getting a couple. Teachers really aren't going easy on us this year, just thank God it's Friday today." He said, breaking eye contact with me to watch netflix that was still showing.
"Whatever you say," I muttered, crossing my arms beneath my chest.
Ezra chuckled, giving me a side glance. "You look like a kid-"
"And so what if I do?" I quickly countered, my brows knitted close together.
"And you sound like one too," he continued, finally looking at me. "How does Chase keep up with you?" He asked jokingly.
Chase wasn't quite the perfect guy for every girl out there, but just enough for me. He was cute, he was sweet and he was smart. He may not be in the football team like Ezra, nor a model like Joey but he was himself and that was what I liked about him. My nerdy I.T guy.
"Because he isn't you," I teased, giving Ezra a sour face.
"Because he isn't you," he mocked, his tongue making an appearance between his lips. "No wonder why you and Scarlet wouldn't get along. You two are so alike! I guess opposites do attract."
I glared at him, seeing him stiffen from his spot. "You do not mention that name in this apartment." Just when I thought I was done, I felt myself coming up with more like word vomit. "Plus, I don't fuck everyone and everything I see."
Ezra relaxed a little from his seat, shifting his gluteus maximus from left to right. "Don't be too harsh on her. How long has it been anyway?"
I decided I didn't want to talk about Scarlet anymore. Let's just say, we ended it in a really bad way and left off in a terrible place.
"I'll text Chloe about tomorrow." I said, sounding firm. I was quite good at hinting whenever I wanted to, or was it just my passive aggressive side?
"Sheesh," he said, getting the hint as he breathed out before taking another drink from his flask.
