Hey guys! So this chapter is going to be split into two parts! So here is Part 1. I am still working on Part 2. I hope to have it up later today. If I don't get it up today it will be posted tomorrow sometime. Hope you guys enjoy! xxx

It was the day of your second day appointment with your doctor, and it was also the day of your first ultrasound. Niall had the day off from work so you made your appointment for today so that he could go to the appointment with you.

You were sitting in the waiting room of the doctor's office. It was late morning so you were still feeling a bit ill from the morning sickness you were experiencing with your pregnancy.

"You okay, babe?" Niall asked as he looked over at you.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Stomach is just a little upset." You said.

"Is it nerves or the morning sickness?" He asked.

"I think it's just morning sickness. I don't really feel nervous." You said.

"Will this morning sickness last all through the pregnancy?" He asked.

"Usually it doesn't. It's most common in the first trimester. But some women have it throughout the entire pregnancy." You said.

"I hope for your sake that it's just for the first trimester. I hate seeing you get sick, I feel so helpless." He said.

"It's a part of being pregnant, Ni. And I have a pretty great husband to support me." You said as you smiled over at him.

"Well what kind of husband would I be if I let you throw up and didn't take care of you?" He asked.

"Y/n Horan." The nurse said just then as she walked into the waiting area.

You smiled and stood up as Niall followed you. The nurse led the two of you to the room where the doctor would see you. She took your weight and blood pressure and then asked a few basic questions, then left the room.

"How is the pregnancy going so far?" The doctor asked after she entered the examination room a few minutes later.

"It's alright. I'm having a lot of morning sickness." You said.

"I'm hoping that by the time we get into your second trimester that the morning sickness will go away for you. For most women it goes away by the time they reach their second trimester. However it is possible that you will have it all the way up until you deliver." She said.

"I've also noticed that my feet and ankles are starting to swell. It usually happens if I go to a show with Niall. Is that something I need to be worried about?" You asked.

"It's pretty normal to see some swelling when you're pregnant, but usually it's not until a little later when the baby is bigger. You might be on your feet too much. Do you spend a lot of time on your feet during the day?" She asked.

"Yeah, I spend a fair amount, I guess. I usually go wherever Niall goes, so that he's with me in case I need him for anything."

"That's fine if you go with him, but try to sit down and rest as much as possible. Elevate your feet when you can." She said. "And Niall, a foot rub here or there won't hurt either." The doctor said joking with Niall.

Niall smiled as he reached over and took your hand. You would definitely have to ask him for a foot rub tonight, after all that's what the doctor recommended.

"Okay why don't I have you lie back on the table here for me and I will measure your belly." She said.

You sat down on the examination table. You laid back as the doctor put her gloves on.

"Okay, I'm just going to lift your shirt up a little so that I can look at your abdomen." She said as she folded the bottom of your shirt up so that she could do the examination.

She touched your belly in a few places and gently applied pressure every once in a while. Then she measured your belly from just above your pant line to about half way between your belly button and breasts.

"Okay, now we will listen to your baby's heartbeat again just to make sure everything sounds okay." The doctor said as she got to the heartbeat monitor out.

You smiled as you watched her place the Doppler on your stomach. You held your breath as you waited to hear the sound of your baby's heartbeat.

Your smile faded after a few moments when you didn't hear anything. There was some static but you couldn't pick up a heartbeat. You looked over at Niall and then at the doctor's face. You could tell something was wrong by the expression on her face.

"Wh-what is it?" You asked looking at her.

"It looks like your baby is just hiding from me. I can't seem to find it's heartbeat, all I'm picking up is yours." She said.

You felt your heart drop at her words. You didn't want to assume the worst but you couldn't help but think about the possibility of a miscarriage.

You felt Niall squeeze your hand and you looked over at him. He had his bottom lip between his teeth and you could tell that he was worried too.

"Don't worry, Y/n. This can happen. It doesn't mean what you're thinking. Sometimes early on in the pregnancy the heartbeat is hard to hear." She said.

You tried to listen to the doctor's words but all you could think was the idea of losing your baby.

"Hey, it's going to be okay." Niall said as he squeezed your hand and then brought your hand to his lips and gently kissed the back of your hand.

Just when the tears threatened to fall from your eyes, you heard a very faint "lub-dub, lub-dub." The corners of your lips curved into a smile and suddenly the tears that moments before were there from sadness, turned to tears of happiness.

The doctor smiled as she heard the lub dub also.

"There it is." The doctor say as she smiled.

Just then you heard a second pattern as she moved the doppler to the other side of your abdomen. It was faint. You thought for a moment you were just hearing things.

"What was that?" Niall asked. You were glad that he had heard it too.

The doctor's eyes widened and then she smiled as she moved the Doppler from one side of your abdomen to the other.

You noticed that there were two different patterns that were almost identical, but they were just slightly different. Two patterns. Two heartbeats...
