Warm tears poured down my cheeks as I cried uncontrollably.

"Kerensa, what happened?" Grammy spoke walking towards me.

She sat down on the bed beside me.

"Terry, let me talk to her." She spoke.

Terry hurriedly left the room. I covered my face with my hands and continued to cry.

"Kerensa, you can tell me what happened." She spoke.

"No, you're going to tell." I cried.

"No I won't sweetie, just tell me." She spoke hugging me.

When I looked at her, she was starting back.

I began to tell her the horrific details of last night. When I was finished, she was holding her heart.

"Please don't tell Grammy." I cried.

"It's okay baby. We need to get you some help." She spoke rocking me.

"No! Please don't tell." I spoke breaking away from her.

"Kerensa, we have to tell someone." She spoke.

"Why? Please don't tell Grammy, I'll tell myself." I wept.

"Okay sweetie, but you have to tell Monique." She spoke sternly.

She said a prayer for me and held me tightly.

After Grammy had calmed me down, we went into the living room. She decided that we would keep it between us. If Terry's mom found out, she would try to kill James.

"Can I stay spend the night?" I asked Ms.Sanders, who's first name was Sasha.

"You have school in the morning Kerensa. I tell you what, you two are about to get out for Christmas break in two weeks. You can spend the whole break over here if you want." She smiled.

"Okay." I spoke excitedly.

She gave Terry and I a slice of cake, and asked what we wanted for Christmas.

"I want the new mountain bike for Christmas Ma!" Terry spoke pulling the crinkled piece of paper out once again.

I smiled while stuffing my mouth with cake.

"I know what you want Terry." She spoke laughing.

"What about you Kerensa?" She asked.

I shrugged my shoulders.

"Well I'm sure you've been good this year. Santa will have a lot of gifts for you." She spoke with a warm smile.

We watched a movie together until it was time for me to go home.

"Bye Kerensa." Ms.Sanders spoke from the kitchen.

"Bye Ms.Sanders." I spoke.

Grammy helped me put on my jacket.

"Bye, sweetheart. Don't forget about what I told you." She whispered while hugging me.

I nodded my head.

When I walked outside, the cool air hit my face. As I made my way home, cars were driving by blasting music. I looked around the poor neighborhood before entering the house.  The black sky was peaceful.

When I entered, drunken Monique was on the couch nearly passed out, with a man beside her.

The lights were off but the TV was on.

James walked to the living room.

"Where the fuck you been Kerensa?" James asked.

"Terry's house." I spoke removing my jacket.
