Hope's Peak Academy; the prestigious school which proudly educates many wannabe heros. After participating in a rather harrowing entrance exam process, only the best of the best had been accepted into the academy. Shuichi Saihara stood before the school, marveling before its sheer might. The boy didn't fully believe that he belonged there - though he certainly wasn't complaining about his acceptance.
He was still surprised that he had managed to get in, especially with a relatively weak quirk like his own. While it was quite useful, he had assumed that there were many others with far more powerful quirks. Shuichi had the ability to disappear - to turn invisible, more specifically. He wasn't very fond of this quirk, however he was even less fond of his other quirk. Shuichi also had the ability to track heat signatures with his eyes.
This second quirk would activate somewhat erratically. He could force it's activation, but sometimes it would turn on by itself. Despite his dislike for his quirks, Shuichi knew that they would be quite useful for hero work.
Taking a few steps towards the entrance, Shuichi tried to shove away his negative thoughts. He wasn't typically a pessimist, though when regarding himself he couldn't prevent himself from opting for a more negative approach. Pushing down the horrible ball of anxiety that had been whirling in his stomach, Shuichi realised that he was in front of a very large door - the entrance to his classroom.
Gently pushing open the door, he entered the classroom. There were already a few other students in the room, and they were all talking amongst themselves. Shuichi entered the room slowly - trying to figure out where to sit. He was concentrating on his surroundings, so much so that he never noticed that he had been approached.
"I wonder if there'll be a seating plan, or if we can just sit where ever we feel like." Shuichi jumped at the sudden voice, turning to the girl that had approached him.
"Sorry, did I scare you?" She continued, she had blonde hair and pink eyes that shone with excitement. "I tend to be rather forward, I was just trying to make conversation. I'm actually kinda nervous too." She finished her sentence with the slightest of blushes clouding her cheeks.
"It's... fine, don't worry about it. This is just really... you know..." Shuichi stuttered, he knew that he must have been making a very bad impression. No matter how hard he tried to 'play it cool' he just couldn't seem to change his demeanour.
"Yeah, I get what you mean." She said almost sadly, before suddenly perking up again. "Oh! I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Kaede Akamatsu, nice to meet you!"
"Oh, and my name is Shuichi Saihara, nice to meet you." The boy awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, his pale face gaining a slight bit of colour.
The two sat down next to each other, deciding that they could indeed be seated wherever they desire. For a while, they just made small talk - discussing the curriculum and a few alumni of the academy. It wasn't long before the classroom had filled with students, and a teacher finally decided to show up.
"Why hello class! Can everyone please be seated? I'm going to take an attendance!" A small almost childlike girl entered, she was pink from head to toe, and there were a pair of bunny ears poking out of her head.
While she was taking attendance, Shuichi looked around at all the strange and interesting characters his class was comprised from. After going through the register and concluding that everyone had indeed shown up, the girl began to speak again.
"Hello class, my name is Usami! And I will be your teacher from now on! I hope that we can all get along!"
Nobody could speak, but thankfully Usami didn't waste anytime waiting for a response before she began talking again.
"Since it's the start of your school year, we're going to have a small tournament!" The tone that resided within that high pitched voice made it clear she was exited.
"A tournament? Isn't it a bit early for a tournament arc?" A blue haired girl muttered.
"This well be used to determine your strength, and you're overall level as a hero." Usami continued, before quickly adding, "But don't panic! It's nothing too serious! No, not at all!"
During the span of the next few minutes, Usami had began leading the class down to a training field. Shuichi silently walked next to Kaede, trying to formulate some kind of strategy in his head.
"I didn't really expect to get thrown in head first like this." Kaede said, breaking the silence.
"I had hoped that we wouldn't, but something like this was probably going to come up eventually..." Shuichi muttered in response. "I wonder how we'll be paired."
"It'll probably be randomly, like picking names out of a hat or something."
"That would make sense."
After walking through the school, the class eventually arrived on the field - where they were sent to a small building to get changed. Their hero costumes were, unfortunately, still in development due to most of their designs needing alterations. So they were stuck using their P.E. uniforms.
The Hope's Peak Academy P.E. uniforms consisted of a white shirt and a coloured tracksuit displaying the Academy's logo. The students were allowed to pick their colours, with Shuichi's being a dark blue.
Kaede approached him from the girl's changing room, wearing a pink uniform. "I'm kind of disappointed that we can't see our hero costumes yet." She said, while walking back towards Usami.
"That's pretty unfortunate." Shuichi agreed. "Everyone else seemed pretty annoyed by it too."
Kaede nodded her head - she never got the chance to reply before Usami began talking.
"Everyone is here now, right? Yup, looks like it! Well then, we should get started immediately! " She produced a hat, seemingly from thin air. "I need everyone to write there names on one of these here pieces of paper. Then we'll draw names from the hat!"
Everybody wrote their name on a piece of paper, dropping their names into the hat.
"Okay, I'm gonna pick the names!" Usami announced after the hat had been filled with names.
Everyone was watching the rabbit girl intently as she lowered her hand into the names. "Let's see, the names are... Tenko Chabashira and... Shuichi Saihara!"
