Chapter Ten

Maddie's eyes fluttered open as she heard whispers. She looked up to see Kalani and her mom.

"Why were you cuddling?"

"Mom, I swear that we're just friends," Kalani huffed before looking towards Maddie. "Oh, hey."

"Sorry, I should go," Maddie said as she scrambled to find her phone.

"I'll drive you home," Kalani offered, "I'll be back in like forty minutes mom."

"Okay."

They walked outside and got into the car.

After about ten minutes Maddie broke the silence.

"Your mom doesn't know?"

"Know what?"

"That we're together?" She asked as she yawned.

"Um, well, no."

"Why is that?"

"Well, I did just ask you to be my girlfriend a few hours ago."

"Okay, true. When do you plan on telling her?"

Kalani bit her lip and avoided the question.

"Babe?" Maddie pushed.

"I was hoping never..." She trailed off.

"You want to keep me a secret?" Maddie said with a confused tone.

"No, it's not that."

"The what is it?"

"The thing is... My mom would probably kill me if she knew that I suddenly like a girl. She would be confused, more confused than I am with myself. I don't know if she'd like it and I'm nervous to bring it up."

"You're confused?" Maddie mumbled.

"What?"

"You're confused with yourself?" She asked.

"No, Maddie, I didn't mean it like that," she said when she noticed that Maddie was upset.

"Okay."

"Maddie, please. I'm not confused. I know I like you."

"Okay, whatever." She said as she crossed her arms.

"You are honestly so adorable when you're upset," Kalani smiled.

"Shut up."

"Oh my, so hot when you're frustrated." She bit her lip and looked at Maddie.

"Shut up," Maddie said as a smiled played on her face.

"Fine, babe," she said as she pulled up to Maddie's house.

"Bye."

Kalani grabbed Maddie's arm and pulled her back into the car.

"What?"

She grabbed Maddie's face and planted a kiss on her lips.

"You can be upset with me but I still want your kisses."

Maddie stuck her tongue out at Kalani before walking into her house. She smiled at her family before heading up to her room.

She looked at the clock, which read nine thirty. The party starts in a half an hour. Kalani is probably going. She should go.

Maddie quickly went downstairs into her moms room to say goodnight. Then headed to Mackenzie's room.

After going into Mackenzie's closet and finding a cute outfit, she quickly put it on then applied some makeup. She threw on some vans then checked the time. Ten fifteen.
