Zero - Chapter One

Start from the beginning

We both took a shower, put on our clothes and proceeded to go downstairs. "Hey, D?" she called for me as I was tying my shoes. I looked at her with a smile, and she said, "Do you want to eat before you go?" I raised my right hand and shook my head no while smiling. "I see. Well, take care and be safe on your way to work, okay?" she said with a smile... She saw me out the door, and as I left she kissed me on the cheek, and waved at me as I walked on the path. I looked behind me and I saw her smiling at me and I smiled back. I kept on walking until our house was out of sight...

I reached the city where I worked as an architect. Tall, towering buildings, shadowing each other as if they were gods battling for supremacy. I looked up and laughed at this thought, as I found it quite amusing to be in my line of work. I finally reached the end of the street, where the building I was supervising during its construction is located.

I was talking to some of my partners and workers about the material shipments, when suddenly, my heart stopped, and my head was about to split apart. 'What is this? What is this searing pain? Why is this happening?!' My workers and co-workers were alarmed with my sudden outburst. "Boss! Are you okay?! What's happening to you?!" I can't understand why they're making all this fuss. I can't even hear what they're saying. But I can't shake off this bad feeling....

I was brought to the hospital by my colleagues, and they called her. They told me she was on her way. My colleagues left me at the hospital after the doctor told them I was going to be fine but I needed further examination to be sure. So was confined in one of the beds near the front desk. And I overheard one of the nurses talking when they took a call. The nurse shouted on the PA system, "We received an emergency call from a civilian! Quick! Get an ambulance there immediately! A short brown haired girl needs medical help!"

As soon as I heard that, my heart was beating so fast, I couldn't breathe. I refuse to believe what they said, what I heard..... I yanked off all the cables and the IV tube thing attached to me, and I pulled off the curtains that divided me from the rest of the ward. The nurses saw me and rushed to my side as I fell to the ground. They tried bringing me back to my bed, but I refused and pushed them away, so they called in guards to force me into one of their isolation rooms. I strong-armed my way out of six men trying to stop me from getting out, and the animal instinct inside me lashed out and I knocked down every one of them who tried to stop me. I ran down the halls of the hospital and arrived at the front door, with two guards blocking my way. I ran and crashed into them, breaking the doors down. I got out. They were still chasing after me. I got away by hiding in an alley way down the street. Then I remembered her, so I calmed myself, closed my eyes and tried listening for sirens. 'Where are you?' I said to myself. Then I heard the blaring sounds of sirens. My eyes snapped open, and I ran. I ran as fast as I could. 'I need to get there. I refuse to believe it's her!' I kept on running, I didn't care who I bumped into or who I knocked over. I just needed to get there no matter what.

And I did. My heart stopped as soon as I saw a girl lying on the ground, with short brown and blonde hair. I came closer and someone tried to stop me, I looked at him with ferocious intent and he backed off. I needed to see if it was her. My heart shattered when I saw her soft brown eyes that were close to tears. It is her. She was bleeding to death, from a gunshot wound. I was looking into her eyes as she spoke her last words... "D.... I'm sorry.... I love you...." She said, as the life in her eyes drained out. I hugged her lifeless body as tears began to roll down my face. The skies darkened and rain started pouring down. Then someone walked in front of me and spoke... "I'm sorry, Daren. This was the only way for me to draw you out." I didn't know who she was when I looked at her, she was pointing a gun at me, and everyone was running away. She was saying a lot of things. But I didn't pay attention. My rage was building up inside me. Something else wants to come out. I came to my senses, when..... "Don't worry you'll be with her soon." She said as she pulled the trigger.

As the bullet flew straight for my head flying at a speed of 360 m/s, I couldn't help but smile as I stopped it effortlessly with my mind. She was taken aback by this. "Y-you... H-how?!" She shouted as she kept on firing at me. I put the lifeless body of my love down on the ground as I approached her murderer. I saw fear in her eyes, as I deflected each bullet, and I lifted my hand and levitated her from the ground... She looked up in terror and confusion as the rain stopped.... "W-what are you?!" She asked. And I spoke... "Your worst nightmare." She screamed in terror and agony as I tore her limb from limb with my mind, as I walked away...

I walked back to my love's lifeless body, and held her in my arms tightly... Just then I felt the shock of everything that happened. The rain poured heavily as the tears rolled down on my cheeks. The skies sent down thunder and lightning, as I screamed with agony. The earth shook and cracked open, as I let out a monstrous roar. Heaven and Hell could hear my wrath. My rage destroyed the earth. Then there was darkness. But in this darkness I saw the light. In this light, a figure.

I suddenly woke up. The sun was shining through my window. I sat up on my bed, and I said to myself, 'I destroyed the world again, huh. Good thing it was just a dream.' So I went on and did my usual routine. And I finally came downstairs, only to find a woman dressed in one of my shirts, cooking in my kitchen. The first things that came to mind were questions, like who the hell is she and why don't I remember anything from last night.

Suddenly, there were a flashback of memories. And I found myself running to her and I hugged her tight from behind. I heard her giggle and say "Hey D. Good morning. How was your sleep?" She said as she turned around and she saw my crying face. Held my face up and looked into my eyes, "Hey, What's wrong??" She said with a concerning expression on her face as she wiped my tears away.

I just smiled at her and said... "I love you too G." She smiled back at me and kissed me on my forehead, and she hugged me tightly. "Are you leaving for the site today?" She asked. I shook my head no, and I said "They can handle the work by themselves..... I'll stay with you for as long as I can, and I'm never leaving your side."

Her name is Georgina Sato Tirrell. I lost her once, but never again. For as long as I'm alive, no one will ever take my Queen away from me. No harm shall come to her for as long as I am by her side. For my name is Daren Alexander Black, I'm her sword and shield, and I am her King.
