Chapter dix-neuf -Beginning of the thread-

{POV: Dannie}

After I signed out for my lunch period, I found Sampson waiting for me outside in his car. He smiled when he saw me approaching. I opened the car door and stepped in. He leaned over and gave me kiss. "How's it hanging, Dan?" His hair was in a neat little bun at the base of his neck.

I smiled brightly. "Pretty good. What are we doing for lunch today?" I said as he pulled out of the parking lot.

"I'm thinking that little café on main street? I hear they have really good cinnamon buns."

"Sounds good to me." I flicked on the radio and watched the streets roll by as we moved through the town. Soon we were on mainstreet and I saw the little café, but he drove past it. "You passed the café," I said turning to look at his side profile.

He didn't take his eyes off the road. "I know. I have to make a little stop first, right down the street. Is that cool?"

"Um, yeah, as long as you feed me afterwards and we get back on time." He nodded and pulled into a nice neighborhood filled with big suburban houses. These were the kind of houses I'd always loved, the kind that usually held the perfect nuclear family. The kind I had always wanted growing up. He stopped in front of a large house with dark brown shutters. He reached into the glove compartment and pulled out a package, the kind you'd get when you wanted to mail something at the post office.

"I'll be back in a hot second," He cut the engine and and hopped out of the car. And I watched as he walked up the stone walkway and knocked on the door. A moment later the door opened a sliver and a hand reached out. Sampson passed the person the package and the door closed.

"What kind of sketchy shit," I muttered under my breath. I wiped a sweaty strand of hair off my forehead and pinched the bridge of my nose. What the hell just happened? There was no way I just saw a drug deal. But that did look an awful lot like a drug deal.

"You ready, Dan?" The door opened and I almost had a heart attack.

I clutched my chest. "You scared me." I gave him a shaky smile. He grinned and pulled a U-turn. Soon we were on mainstreet again and I was still trying to figure out how to ask him what I had just seen. We went though the drive through and he ordered food for the two of us.

"A cinnamon bun for my cinnamon bun," He said once he parked. He handed me the plastic container and a drink. We still had twenty five minutes left. He ran a hand through his hair then opened his container. "What's on your mind? You look like you saw a ghost."

"You were selling drugs!" I blurted.

He gave me a sidelong look with his lips quirked in a small, amused smile. "Go in the glove compartment and open one of those packages." I must have looked scared because he added, "It won't kill you, seriously."

I did as he instructed and pulled one out. I slid my fingernail under the flap and looked inside. There were an abundance of plastic bags full of small blue pills. "What are these?"

"Adderall. You did witness a drug deal, but they just help you get a crazy focus. It's an ADHD drug, I sell a fuck ton during the weeks before testing. Most people aren't dumb enough to buy them during finals but they're good if you need to cram and be awake for a while." He reached in in the bag that was in my lap. He pulled out a small baggie and looked me squarly in the eye before throwing so it landed neatly between my boobs. I reached over and smacked him but I couldn't help but laugh. "That shit's yours now. Use it or don't, up to you."

"I don't really need it, but thanks I guess?" I said as he pulled out of the café parking lot. "Do you sell anything else?" I took a sip of my cold ice tea and watched the muscles in his jaw flex.
