They battled fear face to face,
struggled with hunger,
persecution, isolation and hatred.
They had friends and families;
they were spirit filled warriors
but regular mortals.
They taught us how to fight;
how to endure hardship,
and how to kill.
They were killed in action;
and someday,
we will meet again.
