"Shit." I was running late...again. Way to go Belle.
Quickly I gather my things, spilling some milk on the linoleum counter in the process. The shudderingly annoying pestering rhythm that is Jael Sterling's car causes me to move faster.
"What the hell?" I mutter shoving on my boots. Running outside, I slam the door shut and lock it. I scowl at Jael, non-appreciated that it was only 7:10 and school didn't start until 7:30, the school being a bit over ten minutes from my house by car. Nevertheless, I open the car door and slip inside .
"Who the hell pissed in your cornflakes?" I remark, furrowing my eyebrows at him. He gives me a look of utter annoyance but rolls his eyes.
"You're late," he remarks.
"Seriously, we have more than enough time." I mutter buckling up. "And if I'm so late, then I'll catch the bus like I usually do."
Just exactly who does he think he is?
He doesn't reply but back out and starts driving. I sigh sitting quietly, scrolling through my phone when suddenly I get a text.
Hey, babe. Need a ride? I got you a Cinnamon Dolce Latte ;D
~Derek~
I smile. He knows my favorite drink and he even went out of his way to buy it for me so early in the morning. Derek is so sweet, and here I am with Jael instead of him. I start typing when I notice Jael's stare from the corner of my eyes, waves of what I could only imagine being jealousy rolling my way, but I ignore it.
Awwhs! How sweet! Sorry, I'm already on my way to school. I'll wait for you at the doors :*
~Belle~
I hit send, and I rest my head on the window. I watch as cars go past...a stray dog...my high school...
Wait, what?
I abruptly sit up in confusion. I turn my head, the school now too far to see. I snap my gaze to Jael who was calmly drumming his fingers on the steering wheel.
"Uh... I don't mean to alarm you or anything, but you just passed the school," I started.
"And my shirt's black, nice observation Dollface." Jael rolls his eyes. Anger boils within me.
"Well I don't mean to be blatantly obvious, but it's Wednesday. Meaning we have school. Maybe you're used to skipping school and doing god know's what, but not me." I snarl, venom in each word. "Now can you turn the car around so I can go to the school?"
Yeah, I know I'm messing with an ex-con, but if this guy thinks he has the right to make me do whatever he damn well please, then he has another thing coming. Jael clenches his jaw, and before I can react, he speeds up the car, now practically going twice the speed he was normally going at. My eyes are as wide as saucers now, my shaky hands grasping the sides of my seat. After about 5 more minutes of going at this same rate, he stops near a park. As the car engine shuts off, I turn my head to him.
"What the fuck was that," I wheeze angrily.
He smirks, but climbs out the car and rounds to my side and opens my door.
