Chapter 15: Lorelei, The Ice Mistress

The next morning I woke up to a storm going on outside. I got up without much worry and got ready for the day.

"Hey Kat, are you ready for the battle today?" Sabrina asked me as I walked outside into the downpour with her. We quickly took off running towards the arena, which had closed the roof.

"Yeah, I'm ready. I have to win today or else we won't get to challenge Red." She smiled at me as Umbreon shook out her fur. I smiled down at her and I knew she was just as pumped as I was about challenging Red next, our whole journey has been all about getting ready for this moment.

"I can't wait to see what happens with this battle today." Gary commented as he walked over with Ash, Brock and Misty.

"Thanks, but I have a feeling this is going to be the hardest fight yet." I said lightly. I looked at the flame lit at the top of the arena. "But the flame that is my fighting spirit burns as bright as the pokemon at my side." We all headed towards the stands and that was when I finally saw Lorelei. She looked as icy as the ice-type pokemon she commanded.

When she saw me she walked over causing the air to turn cold.

"So you're my opponent. Just be aware, you won't beat me. Red even had a hard time with me." My body went ice cold as she walked past me.

"She's a real piece of work." Ash said.

"Yeah, but I can't let her get to me." Everyone nodded.

"Go, your battle is going to start soon." I rushed away and headed down to the arena. My hands were shaking a little.

"Kat relax, don't let her get into your head. We are going to win." I looked down at Umbreon's determined face. I nodded lightly.

"Right." We walked out into the arena and saw Lorelei already standing there, a smirk planted on her face. I took my place and took a deep breath.

                  

"Nervous?" She mocked.

"Not at all, just getting pumped." She seemed a little shocked by my answer, but barely showed it.

"The battle between Elite Four member Lorelei and Kat from Pallet Town is about to begin. This will be a four on four Pokemon battle and the battle will be over when all of one sides Pokemon are unable to battle. Let the battle begin!" The ref stated.

"Alright Lapras you're up first!" Lorelei called first.

"Lapras huh? Well it's time for you to shine. Go Celebi!" She looked really determined as she appeared from her pokeball. This was completely different from the happy-go-lucky Pokemon I was uses to seeing. Maybe it had something to do with us going to challenge Red after this?

"Lapras use Ice Beam!" Lorelei commanded and I knew I had to get my head in the game.

"Celebi Teleport and then use Thunder!" I called out and watched as she disappeared right as the Ice Beam reached her. The crackle of thunder outside reigned throughout the silent arena. Then out of nowhere the Thunder rained down over Lapras.

"Lapras!" Lorelei cried out as Lapras collapsed to the ground.

"Lapras is unable to battle, therefore the winner is Celebi." The ref called out and Celebi appeared in front of me with a smile on her face, but I could see one of her wings was covered with ice.

So Lapras' attack had hit her?

"That's quite impressive, I thought I could make quick work of you with Lapras, guess Red was right. Let's go Dewgong!" I pulled out my pokedex as a beautiful seal Pokemon appeared.
