Chapter 1
"Where is it?" I murmured staring at the wreckage in my room. There was a rustle and a shout of triumph.
"FOUND IT!" My sister burrowed her way out from under the pile of clothes and held up a ragged book in her fist.
"Thanks." I said grabbing the book and jumped next to her on my bed.
"NATALIA LANDIN" I inwardly groaned as my mother walked into my room.
"It looks like a tornado went through here! What were you thinking? Your guests will be here in ten minutes! Clean it this instant and if its not done by the time they get here I'm sending them home!" My mother sighed shaking her head and leaving.
"Can you help me please?" I asked turning to my sister who was giggling hysterically. She paused for a moment and giggled harder.
"Fine I will do all of your chores for the next four months." I sighed shaking my head at her. She stopped giggling and started to help me clean up. Within a matter of minutes the door bell rang and the sound of running feet approached my room.
"Wow. Need help?" My best friend Christa asked picking up some discarded pants. I smiled my approval and the three of us had my room cleaned by the end of the hour.
"Where is everyone?" I asked walking down the hall to the living room.
"There was a really nasty car accident at the intersection on Canyon Ridge. My dad just bought me a new bike so I hopped out and rode my bike here." Christa said plopping onto the couch next to me. I was about ready to to ask here where the rest of our friends were when,
"I saw Raven and Zion in their parents cars. If we grab the wagon and an extra bike the two of us can go get them." Christa smiled as if she read my mind.
40 minutes later my friends and I were celebrating my birthday.
"Okay you want to start from the beginning of the series or the latest movie?" I asked holding up NCIS and the latest Harry Potter movie. My friends laughed and groaned.
"NCIS." Christa shouted jumping up and snatching it from my hand.
"It's my birthday." I teased trying to get it back.
"I know." She said tossing the DVD set at me and running down the hall to the bathroom.
"Why are you in the bathroom?" I called down the hall.
"Maybe she's using it." Raven said while looking at her phone. A maniacal laugh came from the bathroom.
"Maybe she's up to one of her pranks again." Nina said grabbing the Harry Potter movie and placing it into the DVD player.
"Who wants more cake?" My mother asked when the movie's menu popped up.
"Mom its the Order of the Phoenix." I complained hopping up and taking a slice with the 11 on it.
"You've seen it at least 800 times." She said shaking her head.
"895 now. I've counted." Christa said grabbing a plate and dragging me to the living room to watch the movie again.
"NO NOT SIRIUS!!!!!!" I screamed startling Christa and Raven out of their nap. Zion tossed the popcorn and Nina looked slightly hassled.
"Really Natalia you have seen this how many times and you still scream at when Sirius passes through the veil?" Nina said pulling popcorn from her hair.
"I'm sorry it just makes me so sad." I huffed helping to clean up the popcorn.
My mother then scolded us and sent us to bed.
"Hey Christa are you okay?" Zion asked shaking her shoulder. Christa roused and grumbled.
"Hello??" Zion said repeating her question.
"No. I had the dream again." She responded covering her head with the pillow.
"The one with the guy who's yelling at the woman?" I asked sitting up and looking at her in the darkness.
"Yeah this time she was yelling that he was crazy and a murderer. And then these people popped up and the guy was yelling, "Not my baby you crazy old man."" She sighed.
"Sorry." I said pulling her into a hug. She batted at me with a hand and huffed,
"Why are you apologizing its not your fault."
We laughed and went silent again as footsteps approached our sleeping area.
"Natalia. I can't find the Sorcerer's Stone." I looked up to see my sister standing there.
"Madeleine go back to bed." I hissed sitting up and tossing a pillow at her.
"But I want to read it." She wined.
"Your five. You can barely read." I snapped getting up and grabbing my sister's shoulders.
"But it's not on your dresser." She said climbing out of her bed and walking into my room. She then pointed at my dresser at the spot where I had tossed the book earlier. I stared at the dresser in confusion.
"Maddie if you go to bed right now I will send you the biggest gummy bear I can find from Germany." Christa said coming into my room. Madeleine squealed and ran into her room and burrowed underneath the covers.
We were about ready to leave my room when a bright blue flash of light glowed behind us.
"Was that one of your pranks?" I scolded turning to flip the light back on. Christa shook her head. We looked around my room for a few seconds to find what had caused the light.
"Hey, Natalia, I think I found the Sorcerer's Stone." Christa sounded slightly startled and slightly confused.
"Where?" I asked getting up from looking under my bed.
She was staring at my mirror her back to me. I walked to her side and then looked at the mirror.
"It's right there." she said pointing into the mirror.
"Christa really it's midnight and,"
I stopped mid rant to stare the book. I ran my hand over the dresser and felt nothing. I turned to ask Christa again if it was one of her pranks when a hand reached out of the mirror. Christa and I squeaked and backed into the bed. The hand was pale and the arm attached to it had a red dress shirt, with gold cuff links, and a black dress shirt. It then beckoned to us.
"Where did you get the cake again?" Christa asked meekly. I mouthed wordlessly at the mirror. Christa and I gave each other a look and started making our way slowly to the door. To do that we had to get closer to the mirror.
"How about we crawl on the floor to get out?" I whispered. Christa was about ready to answer when the hand grabbed our cloths and dragged us towards the mirror.
"Thank you for the puppy!" Screeched my sister's fading voice.
