Jason

I saw Irene hit the ground before a pair of men came after me. I swung my fist at one of them and ducked under the other guy's arm. I spun around and shoved him forwards.

He smacked his face into the wall and stumbled a little. Another thud signaled that someone else was knocked out. This was not good.

"Jason!" Nate shouted.

I glanced at him as he threw me a black object. I caught it and looked down at my hand to see a pocket knife. He had a pocket knife with him?

Just as I grasped the handle of the weapon, a man came up behind Nate and knocked him out. Shit.

Only me, Tara, and Michael were left. It was obvious we were outnumbered, but the only thing we could do was run.

"C'mon!" I shouted, sprinting at top speed down the wide hall.

The relentless sound of footsteps followed closely behind us. Michael slapped my back and pointed to a new hall on the right.

I ran ahead but soon realized that we had reached a dead end. We were just in a hallway with doors, and there was nowhere else to run.

"Shit." I muttered, turning around.

Tara backed up against the wall as we were quickly surrounded with armed men. Their guns were pointed at us.

I flipped the blade out of the pocket knife although it would probably do nothing against a dozen guns. Michael's arms were raised, but I wasn't about to succumb to that.

"Put the knife down, boy!" One of the men shouted.

I narrowed my eyes and gripped it even tighter. What were we going to do against all these guys?

"Jason, do it." Tara said quietly.

"Fine." I spat, throwing the knife down. Sorry Nate.

The men drew in closer until two of them grabbed my arms and tried pushing me to the ground. I retaliated and kicked one in the shin, attempting to escape.

Then a cold butt of a gun smacked my face and I was out cold.

Irene

I woke up and my back was horribly stiff. I looked around to see that I was laying on a cold concrete floor. In a cell.

"Look who's up!" Tara's voice drifted towards me.

I stood up and stretched as much as I could to relax my muscles. I found that everybody else was in the same cell as I was, thankfully.

We were barred in like prisoners and Jason kept pulling on the metal bars as if they would miraculously slide open or something. He didn't look so happy. But then again, none of us did either.

My throat felt dry before I remembered that I had a water bottle in my backpack.

"Um where's our stuff?" I asked, realizing that we had nothing with us.

"Those idiots took it," Nate said, "Along with my precious knife."

I quietly groaned and peered out the bars to see multiple guards by the cell, all with solemn faces. Things definitely did not go to plan.

"I can't wait to see that Von guy soon." Michael said.

"Someone's eager." Mairi replied.

"If we came here for one person, all we need to do is talk to him."

He spoke quietly so the guards could barely hear what he was saying. It was true though; despite failing in the attempt to "break in" and find who was running the organization, we were now faced with the opportunity to do so. Even if it meant we were under the control of someone else.
