She remembered the smell of her home so well: the fresh lavender which elegantly danced around the warm air. Lavender had always been very calming and Vincent needed it for his nerves, he often found himself hyperventilating over the littlest of things but that was only because he was an over thinker.  Her closed eyes then found themselves re-imagining the chestnut coloured wooden hall downstairs, how the stairs spiralled either side of the hall and made their way to the upper level. The Murray-Hall family had decorated their home beautifully through the ages; the burgundy draping curtains,  the cream and brown co-ordination of the walls, the polished floors, the elaborate designs in architecture... everything about it was beautiful. She loved that home and she loved the people in it.

Herself being one and Vincent being the other.

She had often wondered why he had felt the need for such a large home when it was only the two of them but she soon realised the home was a family heirloom which he couldn't possibly turn down. It was also a beautiful place to raise children. The gardens were expansive and the area was safe, surrounded by homes of a similar calibre.

That home didn't matter any more because for the past 4 years all she knew was science, entrapment and exploitation. This is what Vincent was hiding her from but he seemed to have failed and she knew that ate him alive no matter how much she told him it wasn't his fault.

Sinking into the small swivel chair she huffed before letting her face fall into the palm of her hand. To the left of her a book hovered beside her head spinning around slowly on point while she thought about all the opportunities waiting for a normal 18 year old in the outside world.  On her lap Darwin laid sound asleep while Dr Hearty was sat at his desk in front of her working away on his computer.

"Excuse me?" Her voice was timid and quiet, barely noticeable but unique. Having learned to talk first in Houston she couldn't help but have the Texan slur which made her voice so incredibly attractive and soft but then moving to Washington meant that a little bit of Texas was gone but replaced with a much more well spoken tone but often left the 'G' off the end of words. "Um... hello?" She leaned forward awkwardly causing Darwin to jump from his nap and climb up her body onto her shoulder tiredly.

"Must you have that little rat in my office?" Dr Hearty asked, he didn't lift his gaze from his computer screen but it felt to her as if he had just put her on spot and was piercing into her even though the two of them hadn't made eye contact all day. Her heart rate increased as her palms moistened and she gulped just a little,

"He's a Capuchin, not a rat and yes I must" She paused for a moment as he raised his dark green eyes and looked dead at her, "He's a companion of mine, where I go he goes" She lifted her head to make it seem as if she was a lot more confident that she was but the truth was that she hated new Doctors. Especially the ones who didn't have her best interests at heart,  the ones who didn't look at her as if she was human, the ones like Dr Hearty who saw nothing but a freak of nature and toy for his own discovery. "I understand you're new here and all but Darwin isn't, he's an important member of the team." She nodded her head before taking him off her shoulder and holding him in her arms smiling down at him.

Darwin was an adoreable little thing,  at 2 years old  he was a fluffy ball of cuteness. Black and white fur, cute face, the best friend a girl could ask for. The only friend she really had. Other than Oliver but the boy had become more like a brother to her. The science lab was home for her, she was home schooled, never allowed out, they had a gym, they had all the facilities she needed and they wouldn't let her leave in fear of exposure so she didn't really have any friends. The only people she ever met were the Doctors and Oliver. Much like her, Oliver was being observed too, he was a kid who sparked scientific interest but not for the same reasons as her. Not because he was able to... do things, because he was born in the wild and upon his birth his mother died but somehow he survived to the age of four when they found him and the very decomposed dead body. He couldn't talk, instead he made animal noises and he ran around reeking havoc on any-and-everyone he could. His room was not too far from  Beyoncé's and in the year he's been there, they've become very close... she's the only person who he doesn't bite. He also get's along with Darwin very well and that's a good sign for her.
