Chapter 2

"Oh my god! My new top!" exclaimed the other person, who sounded to be a girl.

Danielle opened her eyes and set down the now empty can. "Here, let me wipe it off."

The girl slapped Danielle's hands away before she could do anything.

"Don't you dare fucking dare touch me dumbass!" She had a few girls run to her side.

"Look I'm really sorry!" Danielle said feeling upset with herself.

"You seem new so here's a warm welcome from my part and the welcoming committee." The girl said.

She leaned down and grabbed a tray to then throw it over Danielle's head. Sauce was dripping down her hair.

"Oh no! I'm so sorry, ugh i'm so clumsy. Not!!!" Her friends started laughing with her and soon the whole entire cafeteria laughed along.

Cole was walking back to their spot and was confused at what was happening with the crowd, people were recording the scene and laughing.

Danielle was stuck in her spot since her feet felt heavy from embarrassment, Cole then pushed his way through the small crowd and was shocked to see Danielle standing in the middle with sauce dripping down her hair.

Cole stood in front of Danielle and was feeling angry at what was happening.

"What the hell Sarah!"

"Oh hi handsome! I was giving her a warm welcome from the welcoming committee and I. Nothing wrong or is it?" Sara asked innocently and made her way towards Cole, she then wrapped her arms around his neck while giving him a smile.

Cole moved her arms away from him causing Sara to feel embarrassed.

"Look Sarah, I have no clue what just happened but I am sure that it was an accident. I'm sure she was just trying to throw something away." Cole said, trying to defend Danielle.

"I'm glad that she's smart enough to acknowledge that she's trash. Hmm. She is smart!" Sara said, tilting her head to the side making eye contact with Danielle.

After Sara's last comment, Danille could no longer take the embarrassment and left running, she ran down the hallway quickly looking into each classroom in hopes to find an empty one and thankfully she did.

Running inside the dark classroom, she slammed the door shut and slid the door now letting her tears fall from her eyes.

Pulling her knees to her chest in hope of comfort, her cries then turned into sobs feeling more lonely than ever.

The door opened and shut and Cole bent down in front of Danielle, he grabbed her arm pulling her towards him and she melted into his embrace without second thought. He let her cry for a bit until she calmed down and decided to pull away from the hug.

Cole wiped away Danielle's tears with his thumb.

They both stood still just looking at each other, tension began to fill the room. Nobody dared to move just to stare at each but Cole decided to give in and slowly began leaning in causing her heart to beat fast. She slowly closed her eyes, aware of what was to come.

She felt warm and soft lips against her, Cole's hands moved up to cup Danielle's face.

Once again, the door opened but it swung open causing it to hit the wall and a gust of wind to come in their direction.

Everything happened too fast, Danielle no longer felt Cole's lips against hers.

Danielle's eyes flew open and all she saw was Cole being pulled away and being pushed to the ground. Fists were flying and all Danielle could think of was pulling the person away from Cole.

In an attempt to pull the person away from Cole but earned Danielle a flying fist to come in contact with her face, it had also caused glasses to knock off her face with the hit that made her fly back falling onto the ground. She immediately cupped her face in pain and tears once again formed in her eyes.

Cole was trying to dodge the hits but when he saw Danielle receiving a flying fist from the other person that's where he lost it and decided to punch the other person. They fell back allowing him to crawl to Danielle.

"Where?" Cole shortly asked.

Danielle just looked up and it was evident where she had gotten hurt.

Meanwhile the other person quickly got up and Danielle quickly got a quick look to be surprised to see familiar boots but couldn't take in the information because her face was starting to hurt.

Cole moved in front of Danielle blocking her view of seeing the perpetrator leave.

"Your eye is getting pretty swollen. Where'd your glasses go?" Cole asked looking around, making Danielle look around too.

Danielle found her glasses which seemed broken causing her to sigh, she reached to get her glasses with her popped out lens.

"Let's go take you to the nurse before it gets worse." Cole recommended.

"No. Don't worry about it. I'm fine." Danielle urged.

"Sorry no. Let's go." Cole said, pulling Danielle up her feet and dragged her to the nurse's office.

Cole pushed the school nurse's door open causing the door to jump and turn her body towards them.

"Oh god! What happened to both of you! Come and sit down on the beds." said the nurse quickly getting alcohol wipes and a Ziplock bag for ice.

"Someone decided to hit me then a flying punch managed to hit her." Explained Cole to the nurse.

"Some fight it must've been. I'll hand you Ziplock bags filled with ice to help with the swelling, especially you sweetie, keep that on your eye since that's where they managed to hit you." The nurse recommended covering the bags of ice with paper towels.

"I'll give you two a couple of minutes to relax then you are free to go." The nurse said going into her small office.

A couple of minutes passed and they both sat in silence until Cole decided to speak up. "Hey!"

"Hi!" Danielle let out a small laugh at Cole's randomness.

"How's your eye now?" Cole asked and stood up from his spot to look down at Danielle's face.

"It's hurting but I guess it's getting there."

Cole winced at how Danielle's eye was beginning to look. Placing a hand underneath her chin he rubbed it with his thumb.

The nurse walked in, "You two make such a cute couple. Looking out for each other."

Danielle's face was flushed which only earned her for Cole to pinch her cheek.

"Like I said I was going to let you two relax for a bit but you're free to go." The nurse said, smiling.

They both nodded and thanked the nurse for everything.

Once out the nurse's office they began walking to their next class which to their surprise was a class they shared so they made their way together to their science class.

The class had started a couple of minutes ago, they both walked in but Danielle stayed behind with the teacher. Cole walked to his seat and sat down getting his things out for the class.

"Alright everyone let's give a warm welcome to our newest addition to our team, Danielle Johnson."

"Oh no need to Ms. Cabrera, she's been welcome already." Everyone in the class began to laugh.

"I'm thinking of handing out some detention Miss. Davis. Would you like to be the first one to get detention after speaking out of turn? We may be in high school but I can still treat you like little kids." Ms. Cabrera corrected.

Sara rolled her eyes and fixed herself in her seat.

"Anyways before I was interrupted... Welcome in Miss. Johnson. Go on ahead and make your way to the empty seat next to Cole. Cole please raise your-" Danielle made her way next to Cole. "Well I'm assuming that you made a friend, good! Alright let's get started!"
