My Best Friend's Girlfriend

Bea is in a bad mood. Her day started hellish because some motorist appeared out of nowhere and purposely overtook her while on the road, causing her to swerve and almost collide her car on a nearby post. Siya pa tuloy 'tong na-flag at pinababa nung traffic enforcer dahil muntik na daw siya maka damage ng public property. The hold up caused her to be late on her first class of the day tuloy and she was called out by her professor in front of the whole class because of it.

As soon as her last class for the day ended, she immediately takes all her stuff with her and runs to where she parked her car so she can finally go home and rest. She knew being a senior in college can be very stressful pero sobra sobrang stress naman ata 'to?

Bago siya umuwi sa condo, nag-decide siyang dumaan muna sa Starbucks para bumili ng mocha frappé. She's hoping that it will at least help her chill out the indifferent mood she's having today.

Actually, she thinks she's been in a bad mood for almost a week now. Nagsimula yun nung party ng dad niya when she was scolded because of her late appearance. Her dad even threatened to send her to their relatives in the states kapag naulit pa daw yun. Napahiya daw kasi sila because of her. Bea just shrugged the threat off. Yun naman kasi lagi yung panakot ng parents niya sa kanya every time meron siyang nagagawang kasalanan.

Nakadagdag pa sa bad mood niya yung nalaman niya na yung girlfriend pala ng best friend niya ay yung girl na matagal na niya hinahanap.

She still feels disappointed at the thought of Thirdy and Jhoana being together. Of all people, bakit si Jhoana pa yung nakilala ni Thirdy at nagustuhan niya? Bakit pareho pa sila ng nagustuhang babae ng best friend niya? At the back of her mind, there's a selfish thought telling her na siya yung unang nakakita kay Jhoana so she should be with her instead of him.

She closes her eyes and gently shakes her head to rid herself of the thought. Jhoana's with Thirdy now. She should just be happy for them.

"That'll be P185, miss Bea." the barista interrupts her thinking.

Tumango naman siya at kinuha yung wallet niya para magbayad ng biglang may tumabi sa kanya at nag-abot ng cash dun sa counter. "Ako na."

Napatingin agad si Bea sa nag-abot ng bayad at nakita niya si Thirdy na mukhang seryoso at hindi tumitingin sa kanya. Figures, she'll see him here. Kakatapos lang din siguro ng classes nito.

"You don't have to, Thirds. I can get it myself." she tells him seriously.

Tumingin na sa kanya si Thirdy at ngumiti lang. Napansin agad ni Bea na hindi ganun ka warm yung ngiti niya. "It's okay. Treat ko na 'to."

She didn't bother to argue. Mukha kasing wala sa mood ngayon si Thirdy. She has no idea what his problem is. Hindi na kasi sila nakapag usap after nung party.

Nagpa salamat na lang siya at umupo na sa may malapit na stool para hintayin yung order niya. Tumabi naman sa kanya si Thirdy nung tapos na siya maka order ng sarili niyang drink. Walang nagsasalita sa kanilang dalawa at ramdam na ramdam ni Bea yung awkward silence. She never had any awkward silences with Thirdy before at sobra siyang naninibago.

Bigla tuloy napaisip si Bea. Alam na kaya niya yung sa kanila ni Jhoana?  Did Jhoana tell him? Kaya ba ganito ang asta ni Thirdy sa kanya ngayon? Baka iniisip nito aagawin ni Bea yung girlfriend niya sa kanya.

Damn.

Naputol naman yung pag-iisip ni Bea nung tinawag na yung name niya for her order. Sabay din tinawag yung name ni Thirdy para sa order niya kaya si Thirdy na yung tumayo para kunin yung drinks nila. Ang balak lang talaga ni Bea ay um-order ng frappé at umuwi na pero parang nakakahiya naman kung bigla na lang niyang iiwan si Thirdy. Nilibre pa naman siya ng frappé nung tao.
