The First Of Many Date Nights:

1st May 2015

Grabbing a damp cloth from the back room ,Rachel headed out to the front of the bakery to wipe a few tables down while the shop wasn't that full. She ruffled Kevin's hair as she passed him knowing that it was one of the things that annoyed him the most.

As predicted he scowled, flipping her off while he fixed his hair making her laugh.

Carly came through ,her apron now long gone as her shift was ending, and smiled gratefully at Rachel just as the door to the bakery opened.

Rachel's heartbeat immediately picked up when she saw who it was.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, moving forward to give Nate a kiss on the cheek, and smiled. "Don't you have an interview?"

Over the past month Nate decided to give up on his previous job at some huge business firm Rachel knew absolutely nothing about, he'd tried telling her often but she always forgot. He'd only actually took the job in the first place to impress Nicole and while he did like the job, it was also exhausting. So he decided to ditch it for something less tiring and was currently getting interviews for different jobs.

Robbie, who'd now lost his best work buddy, seemed to be slowly coming to the same conclusion. According to Carly he'd been looking into some jobs at different firms.

She didn't know why he wanted to switch firms but it probably helped that their boss is a wanker. Atleast according to Rachel he is.

Nate smiled at Rachel, placing a hand on her arm to steer her away from the entrance so they weren't blocking the way for any customers. "Actually I may have lied about the interview."

Rachel stopped walking. "Wait what? Why?"

"Everything's been so hectic at work I've barely been able to see you these past few weeks. I wanted to make it up to you." He explained to her before looking at Carly. "Can I take her away from here?"

Carly opened her mouth to reply but Rachel quickly got in first. "Wait now? Nate I can't! Carly's about to leave, if I go too it'll just be Kevin."

"It's all good, I contacted Laura and she's happy to cover the rest of your shift." He quickly clamped a hand over her mouth when she started to protest. "Rach the place closes in an hour anyways, it's fine."

"He's right." Carly piped up making Rachel frown. "You can go Rach, have some time with your man. I'll expect you back by 11 and not a second early."

Rachel rolled her eyes. "Ok fine I'll go but don't you dare pay me the full amount this week." She told her sternly.

"Fine." Carly replied amused. "Just go Ok? Before I kick you out my self."

Rachel scoffed at the thought, looking her best friend up and down. Carly was tiny and although she held some strength in those twig arms, there was no way she could actually manage to shove Rachel out of the bakery door.

The idea almost made her laugh.

Instead she whipped off her apron, throwing it on to Kevin's head, before turning to face her boyfriend. "So, where are we going?" She asked genuinely curious. "Because I'd quite like some KFC."

Nate rose an eyebrow at her. "That's for me to know and you to find out. Anyways you do realise when I said I'm taking you out I meant on a date, right?"

Rachel blinked at him. "A date?"

After their failure of a first date ,thanks to Robbie's awful cooking (thank God he wasn't looking for a new job in the culinary career), they hadn't actually tried the whole 'date' thing since so Rachel couldn't help but be shocked at his words.
