I stared at Rosie for a good ten seconds. Why wouldn't she tell me this?! For a whole month, too!

I continued to stare at her until I saw her squirm. I guess she was expecting me to say something.

" . . . Why didn't you tell me?" I asked. She better have a damn good reason.

Rosie looked even more uncomfortable. "That's the thing, though, I don't really have a good excuse. I don't know Lily, it's really silly. A part of me just didn't know how to bring it up. But it looked like you were still a little hung up on Adam at the time and I didn't want to look . . . I don't know . . . unfair? I guess I just felt that it was wrong to go into a relationship when you were still pretty sad about not being in one. I'm sorry, it's a pretty stupid excuse, I still should've told you." She looked down, looking guilty.

"Okay, so . . . you thought I felt sad over a boy I had a crush on years ago?!" I'm completely over Adam, and maybe I'm a little sad that I don't have a boyfriend but it's not like that's a big deal!

"I'm sorry! Please don't get mad! I didn't want to rub it in your face that I had a boyfriend and you didn't."

I looked away. "So basically you thought I would be jealous of you instead of happy for you?" That hurt. A lot. Best friends for a long time but it still seems that we don't completely trust each other.

"Can we please just . . . forget this happened. I didn't mean to hide it. We barely got to see each other in the summer, remember? Mom took away my phone when I went to camp. I was gonna tell you soon. I'm sorry." I glanced at her, and I saw the shame in her eyes.

I had an idea. "Hmm. Well, I have a boyfriend too." Not.

Her eyes snapped open. "What?! Since when?"

"Since I thought you didn't have a boyfriend I didn't want you to feel bad since you didn't have one." I laughed at her expression. Priceless.

"I'm kidding, but now you know how it feels, you jerk. I'm not mad, so now it's time for the important part," I said. "How'd you guys meet? And what's he like?"

Rosie chuckled. "Okay, so you know how I was in art club last year? Well, so was Alex. We were assigned to be partners for this mini project to make a stained glass piece. Waaaaay harder than I thought, at least for me. Alex was a natural. We got along really quick actually, he's really funny." A smile grew on her face. "We aced the project. We made a really awesome lotus flower. After that, we eventually started seeing each other outside of school." Her smile grew even larger, a goofy grin forming on her face. "One time the club ran pretty late. The sun was already setting by the time we got out, since it was November at the time. Alex actually has doesn't live too far from me, actually, only a few blocks away, so he offered to walk me home. Of course I said yes, I had a little crush on him back then. We cut through the park, and then Alex told me that he had a surprise for me."

She paused to glance at me. "Come, on, come on! What was the surprise?" This was getting really interesting, I was actually thinking about buying popcorn from the vending machine.

"The bell is gonna ring soon, let's get a head start before we get overrun by a stampede of teens. I'll tell you the rest later." She winked at me, and started walking toward the exit of the cafeteria.

I jogged up to catch up with her. "Nooooo!" I whined. "That's sooooo unfair, you gave me a cliffhanger!" Damn, it was also an excuse to buy popcorn.

We kept walking down the hallway. "Toooooo bad." Rosie replied. "Aren't you kind of excited for gym, though? I really hope we get to go on the the track." Rosie said, changing the subject.

Rosie knew I loved running so I just went along with the topic change. "Yeah, I hope so too, I was a bit lazy so I didn't do a lot of exercising during the summer so I'm really pumped to get back into shape." As soon as I finished talking, the bell rang. "Come on, we better hurry." I said so we quickly walked to the gym.

I was greeted to the sight of seeing Alex and the guy from the hallway talking in the middle of the gym.

I sighed internally. This guy is everywhere.
