Lockwood Party-1845

My mother and Father were waiting for me down the stairs along with my sister it was the night the Lockwoods were throwing a party, I had walked downstairs with a beautiful blue dress I was to meet Damon there in the courtyard it was the night I was telling my family Damon and I were engaged and to be married once he gets back from the war, he was leaving the next morning it broke my heart to see that he had to leave and I was going to make the best out of this night, I clearly remember that Damon had told me Blue looked good on me, that was one reason why I had picked this dress out for the party, my mother turned around as my sisters eyes darted to the staircase, mother smiled at me.

“Your going to be the eye of the party Scarlet dear, trying to empress someone?” She asked with A wink putting her ear ring in her ear.

I blushed pulling some hair behind my ear, my sister grinned at me, “There is A guy.” I tell her.

Father stared at me a moment, “Who may I ask?”

Father opened the door for us, I stepped out once I had put my coat on and smiled, “Damon Salvatore.” I said dreamily.

“He's a decent young man, isn't he going to the war?” Father asked.

“Yes, he's leaving tomorrow.. Im going to miss him terribly.” I tell him.

My mother smiles at me, “I remember when I realized I was in love with your father, he was also leaving for the war, I wouldn't leave my room for weeks the only time I would was when I received a letter from him and I would go back up to read it.” She says smiling up at my father.

My sister and I stare at each other as we got to the Lockwood mansion, “I am going to go meet up with Damon, I'll see you inside.” I tell them stepping out of the car walking to the courtyard, moments later I could see him in a suit and a tie his hair in his eyes as always, I couldnt' help but to smile he made my heart melt.

“Hello Mr. Salvatore.” I say from behind him whispering in his ear.

He turns with A grin across his face, “Hello Scarlet.. May I escort you inside?” He asks holding out his hand.

I grin lacing my fingers with his, he pulled me closer moving some hair out of my eyes as he stared into them, “You look beautiful tonight this dress is breath taking.” he whispered, his hand touched my bare back which had sent shivers down my spine, I couldn't help but to smile, his lips touched mine I kissed him softly as our lips moved together, it seemed as if the world stopped, I couldn't wait to be Mrs. Salvatore I only wanted this war to end and Damon come home with me safe and sound.

“You look Handsome yourself there Damon, and I'd love for you too.” I grin,

We walked inside the mansion the music from the piano going and echoed throughout the house, I spotted my parent's in the back talking to Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood, “Care for A dance?” He asks.

I took my eyes away from my parent's and grin up at Damon, “I'd love too.” I whisper as he lead me to the dance floor, we danced for quiet sometime it was quiet we spent half the time staring into each others eyes as if we were reading each others minds, he brought me closer.

“Is this what our wedding will be like?” He asks twirling me around.

My eyes sparkled as he mentioned it I couldn't help but to smile, “Of course it would be, why wouldn't it?” I asked as my free arm snaked around his neck.

“Just curious.” Damon says as his forehead touched mine he had brought his lips close to mine, I smiled onto his lips kissing him back only wanting to be alone with him more I had craved for him as I tried to get my mind off that he was going to the war and leaving us in the morning it made my heart shatter into.

“Shall we go tell your parent's?” Damon whispers against my lips “Then be alone with you for the rest of the evening?” he added in.

I smile against his lips pulling away a bit his peppermint taste still lingered against my lips, “Yes.” I say as we walked towards them.

“Mother , father... Damon and I have something to say to you.” I tell them to get their attention.

The Lockwoods walk off leaving us alone, we seemed to have their full attention as Damon spoke, he seemed to be nervous I couldn't help but to smile, “Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton , I asked your Daughters hand in marriage, we're getting married once I come back from the war.”

Mother smiles pulling me into A hug, “Congratulations sweetheart, we're so proud of you.” she says kissing my forehead.

“Welcome to the family Damon I'm sure you will fit right in.” Father says as mother and I both laugh I held my sister close to me and stared at Damon then at mother. “May I?” I ask mother.

She smiles at me, “Go ahead sweetheart.” she says, I smile walking out of the house with Damon.

Damon stared at me as he entered the room, my smile faded moments later as I pull my hair back into A ponytail, he had A glass of wine in his hand, he had took a sip of it before speaking, “Everything will be back to normal soon.” He says setting beside me.

“It won't Damon, nothing will be normal, ever... my parent's are dead, my sister is dead, And I'm alive and not with them.” tears built up inside of my eyes.

“Your with me Scarlet, you have me here...”

I looked out the window, “I only wish my mother, father and sister were here , I wished there was something I could have done the night of the fire but instead I watched the house go into flames.” I felt the tears stream down my face, I held the guilt in for to long, Damon put the glass down and walked over bringing me into A hug he kissed my forehead and sighs.

“I wish none of this happened to you Scar, things happen to the wrong people who don't deserve it.” He tells me as he continued to hold me, I cried into his chest clenching onto his leather jacket.
