6 weeks later….

Demi POV

Karoline was starting to ask questions about the baby’s father. I didn’t know what to tell her and I avoided the question. I wanted to tell her a story, but I didn’t want to lie. I thought about telling her a sort of modified story. I thought she would stop asking, but if she didn’t I’d just modify it.

I was staring to get a bump. I hadn’t told my parents yet, so I was wearing baggy clothes. We were going to Texas that weekend and that was when I was going to tell them. Dallas and Maddie were going to be there and I wanted to tell them all at once.

We got moved into our new house and everything was settled. The nursery room was empty and waiting to be decorated. I was working on selling my last house.

I walked downstairs from my nap and Karoline was on the couch. She was staring at the wall and doing nothing. I wondered what was up.

“Karoline, what is up,” I asked sitting down.

“Please don’t avoid the question,” I knew what she was talking about.

“I just don’t want to tell you,” I told her. She looked away from the wall.

“So you don’t trust me,” she asked.

“No you just don’t need to know this,” I said.

“You know what Demi,” she asked. My face dropped, she had not called me Demi in so long. I had to hold the tears back. The  thing that came to mind first was ‘is she going to leave’? I was trying to calm down. She obviously saw me and her faced softened up. She came over and sat on my lap.

“I just want to know,” she said.

“I know you do,” I said.

“Then why won’t you tell me,” she asked.

“It just isn’t important,” I said.

“I think it is,” she said.

“It really is not,” I said.

“Okay, I really want to know,” she said.

“I know, if I tell you it will be later on,” I said.

“Okay, I understand,” she told me.

“Are you ready to go to Texas,” I asked.

“No,” she laughed.

“You really need to get ready,” I said.

“Tomorrow, I have to do some shopping, some last minute things for the house and then I am going to rush and pack,” she said.

“Okay, I will do it before we leave,” I rolled my eyes.

“Let me see your belly,” K said. I lifted up my shirt and she looked at it in awe. As she did that I got a flashback of that night. It was kind of fuzzy now, since I was drunker then a dog. I still remembered being scared. I never saw his face due to darkness, but I remembered his voice.

“Mom,” I heard K say.

“Sorry, I was daydreaming. It’s cute isn’t it,” I said trying to get the image out of my head and mostly trying to ignore it.

“Okay, I am going to go pack. You look tired try and get some rest,” Karoline said.

“Okay, mom,” I sarcastically said. She looked at me and walked away. I went upstairs, washed my face, put on pajamas and then went to bed.

**Dream**

“Come here Annalie,” I yelled. I heard the peter patter of little footsteps coming down the stairs.

“Where is Karloine,” I asked.

“She went to school, I weally wish she didn’t it my fowf biwfday,” she said ever so sweetly.

“I know, but she has to go sometime,” I laughed.

“I know,” she eyed me. She was so sassy. She was gorgeous and in a way looked like Karoline, if that's possible. She had milky brown eyes, she had my natural hair color. Her face was the most adorable thing I had ever seen.

“What do you want to do,” I asked.

“I want sissy,” she said.

“Okay, wanna go check her out,” I asked. We got into my black sedan and I buckled her into her car seat.

“Wewe going to get sissy,” she sang.

“Yeah, we are,” I said. We got to her school and checked her out. Karoline got into the back seat and then started tickling her.

“How was your day,” I asked. She looked at me like I was crazy.

“How do you think,” she looked at me with the eyes that I thought would have been gone by then.

“Okay, I understand, little missy here wanted you,” I said.

“I know she did,” she giggled and got straight to cooing at Annalie.

I had a phone call, “Hello,” I asked.

“Dallas and I are coming over,” I knew it was Marissa.

“Okay, I am coming home now, I just picked Karoline up from school,” I said.

“Okay,” she hung up. We got there and they were waiting in the living room.

“Awnty Mawissa, Awnty Dallas,” she screamed.

“Hey birthday girl,” they said in unison. They laughed and got out two bags.

“Here you go,” Marissa said giving her a gift.

“It’s a pwincess DVD,” she said.

“Here you go,” Dallas said handing her a bag.

“It’s a Barbie,” she said. I looked at it, I never thought I would let my kids have barbies. I didn’t want that being their role models. I just nodded.

**END**

I woke up from my dream and smiled. That seemed happy. I looked at the clock and it had only been a couple of hours.

**DREAM**

“Mom,” I heard a girl shout. I looked up and it wasn’t Karoline, it was another girl.

“Hi,” I said.

“Are you mad,” I asked.

“No,” I said.

“I’m going to the mall with my friends,” she said.

“Can I ask you an odd question,” I asked.

“Yeah,” she nodded.

“How old are you,” I asked.

“I am fourteen,” she said.

“Okay,” I looked away. She was more African American, she had dark brown hair, mixed skin. Maybe Latino? Her hair looked nothing like Karolines though. I had no idea. I was dreaming, so I guess that was a mystery. I would know for sure when I got my baby in my arms.
