Forever Friends

14 1 2

When we were 9, you gave me a gift
When we were 12, you gave me a promise
When we were 14, it seems you wanted to forget
And you left me wondering with possibilities and guesses

Now I put my mind on other things
Hoping the distraction will help me get my bearings
If time comes that we will meet
I swear, I'll tell you, I forfeit

But life is crazy, it's unexpected
Connecting us together like an unbroken thread
I know resistance is just laughable
Cause even though we want to pull, we won't be able

Destiny? Faith? Call it what you will
They know that it is what we feel
And now, I'm standing in front of you, making amends
Because God said, we should be forever friends
