Love's Sorrow

As the starlight shines in a blink of an eye
I heard a song; a piano piece maybe, that went by
Such soft tones it was, it flows in the night
So I sneak my way to that room to have a little sight

I opened the door slowly and made my way in
There was utter silence that  I thought the air was thin
Never had I thought that the person who was playing
Was my dear beloved mother, looking at the keys; smiling

As she finished playing, she breathed slowly
And in a second she said "I know you're watching, feeling lonely?"
I sat beside mom, at the piano seat; smiling
I said " Mom, what are you playing?"

"Love's sorrow my dear; you like it?" she said
"Yes ma, it was beautiful" I replied
Soft and perfectly made tones I heard before
Was so pretty that I suddenly  made to adore

But why did mom played that piece, when there's love's joy?
Was it just for fun; like a toy?
No. It couldn't be, I know it couldn't
Soon I was right, there was a reason to know

She played it, so I can get used to sorrow.

-truly yours :)
