The kids looked around at each other with wide eyes, one of them timidly speaking up, “I-I didn’t know she was allergic to cats, I never would have agreed to this.” The rest of the group murmured an agreement, shrinking back around the corner as paramedics rushed in with a stretcher, and carried their principal into the ambulance seconds later.

“Well… we should get back to class, we don’t want to get in trouble…” the group nodded in agreement, quickly dispersing back to their classes, too worried to focus on their work. About halfway through their next period, an announcement come on over the loud speakers “Attention all students, due to an incident this morning, our wonderful principal is not going to be able to attend the annual career fair. We here in the office apologize for the inconvenience.”

In one class there were about three of the group who had been involved in the prank, and they all looked over at each other, sharing a look of nervousness. Once the bell had rung, all seven of them got together, sharing wary looks. “We need to go to the office, we fucked up, this was not supposed to happen.” The rest of the group begrudgingly agreed, making their way back downstairs.

Looking into the office, the principal’s desk was empty, adding to the worry and regret that had filled their beings. The secretaries looked at them accusingly “Weren’t you kids in here earlier?” They nodded, looking at each other then down “Yes… we have to confess something…” They looked around before shoving the girl and guy who they had picked earlier to the front of the group. Stumbling forward, the two looked nervously at the school staff in front of them. “Um…we kinda… uh… put the cats in here… we just wanted to prank her… we didn’t know she was allergic…” Rose piped up in a soft voice, looking as if she was about to cry. She was such a good actress, that’s why they picked her to distract the Ms Crocker hours ago, but the tears that threatened to escape her edges of her eyes looked real. The rest of the group felt just as bad.

Within seconds, the school’s two security guards had entered the office as well, standing by the door to prevent any of the kids from trying to run. They stood there, in uncomfortable silence as the seconds ticked on, the five adults in the room looking over the group of students, daring them to try to get themselves out of this.

The group got more and more nervous and freaked out, scared and confused, their fight or flight instincts starting to kick in. Just as one of the group looked like they were about to break down, the door to the conference room opened, and out walked the principal herself, grinning and holding one of the cats, petting it’s back.
