My life has never been the same since that one fateful night. Since then I've seen too much blood and too much death. People aren't trustworthy anymore, no matter how long you've been with them, it's just a fact of life now. People are monsters. My...
"These things are huge." I said, looking up at them. Once we reached the bundle of supplies, everyone picked something up and got to work.
"What do I need to do?" I asked Rick and he put his hands on his hips.
"Um, you can go out into the woods and keep watch. Just don't get too close." I nodded and walked over to Daryl.
"I'm on watch, Rick's orders." He nodded as he put a nail into place.
I walked out into the woods next to the wall and started to pace back and forth. It was pretty boring, considering I had nothing to do except for pace back and forth. I guess being out here is better than being trapped in Alexandria.
I heard some familiar growls and I stopped to see where they were. To my right, were about six walkers headed right for me. I figured I'd lead them back to the others so I waited for them to catch up.
"Watch out." I heard an unfamiliar voice say. I looked to my left and there was a girl, shorter than me, with dual machetes in her hands. She ran up to each of the walkers and killed them all before I could really process what was going on.
The last walker fell to the ground, and I looked over her. She was in all black, and she put her machetes away.
"Who are you?" I asked, not knowing if she was a threat or not.
"That's for me to know, and you not to." She said and began walking off.
"Where'd you come from?" I asked, and walked after her. She stopped and smiled,
"Everywhere and no where." She said, and continued walking away.
"Were you watching my group?" I asked her and she shook her head as she walked. It's like she appeared out of nowhere. Maybe she was just moving through at the time. I watched her as she walked off.
"Rayne, we're ready to head back." Daryl came and got me. I followed him back to Alexandria and went to Deanna, having to report back to her everyday to tell her what I've done.
"Well, today I went out with Daryl and Rick's group, and I was on watch for walkers." I told her the uneventful day.
"Were you armed out there?"
"No." I said truthfully.
"Ok, well, have you learned your lesson?" Deanna asked me.
"Yes." I said and she smiled.
"Good. You don't have to be under supervision any longer, I believe you won't do anything of that manner again."
"Thank you." I smiled and Deanna led me out. It was evening time, and I went back to the house. Carl was there, sitting on the couch with Judith. I looked down to the floor and made my way up the stairs silently.
I took my boots off and set them by the door. It's killing me knowing he doesn't want me around. I miss him so much, it's almost unbearable. I miss his touch, his smell, his everything.
That night, I almost cried myself to sleep.
The next morning, I woke up early and put my boots on. I need to see Kaylee and Dean, and I knew exactly where they'd be.
I walked up to the empty house they gather in the mornings and waited for everyone. I looked around the empty house and saw spider webs in the corners, and unfinished drywall.
The door slammed shut and I made my way out to see who it was.
"Rayne." Ron said, being the first to enter.
"Ron." I said, and I could feel the uncomfortable tension.
"I haven't talked to you in forever." Kaylee spoke up.
"I know, that's why I'm here. I need to talk to you and Dean." I said and they looked to each other before nodding.
"Ron, Mikey, could you wait outside? And don't let anyone in." I said and the complied.
"Dang girl, you've been busy lately." Kaylee started and I nodded with a slight smile.
"Yeah. What have you two been up to?" I asked and Dean smiled.
"Well, after we settled in here, and Carl and you were together most of the time, Kaylee and I decided to give us a try." I smiled and looked at Kaylee.
"I called this, like three months ago." She blushed and nodded. We all fell into a silence, all of us knowing what was coming next.
"What has he said about me?" I asked.
"He usually comes here in the mornings before any of us, and stares out of a window. Every day since the incident, he asks us to stay behind. He's really sad, Rayne." Dean said.
"Every day? It's been like a week." They both nodded.
"It's gotten worse these past two days. Sometimes he doesn't say anything. But whenever he does talk, it's always about how he just doesn't know."
"What doesn't he know?"
"He just doesn't know how you could do something like that. He said you had this crazed look in your eye, like you wouldn't have stopped. It scared him." Kaylee told me.
"Is that all he said? Was that I scared him?"
"No. He says he misses you, every single day."
"Do you know why he's not talking to me?"
"I think he told us something along the lines of he's sorry he lied."
"Ok, thank you." I said and walked out of the house.
I walked back to the secluded corner I was at with Carl a couple days ago. I sighed and thought things through. He's sorry he lied, and I scared him. He doesn't really know how to approach me, but he misses me. Maybe I'll just have to make him listen to me to talk out our problems.
***Quick note***
As per request of one of my most loyal and dedicated fans, I have included a small cameo in this chapter. The girl in the woods is the cameo of user: AliezMuffinCat. The song at the beginning is one of her choice, and I have included a fan art she made specifically for this chapter.
