Anonymous asked: Dilmer drives around with maddie after she gets her permit?

Demi’s POV:

“Thanks for doing this sweetie. I just wasn’t getting anywhere with her and I think she needs a different perspective. Will you and Wilmer be ok?” I nod. “Yes mom we will be fine and it’s no problem, honestly. It will be fun”. Maddie and Wilmer walk into the room. “Ready to go baby?” I ask Maddie, holding up the keys to the car which would soon be hers. She excitedly runs up to me and grabs the keys from my hand, quickly chucks on her jacket and makes her way out to the little yellow car sitting in the driveway. “Well someone’s keen” Wilmer chuckles. He places an arm around my shoulder and quickly kisses my cheek. “Bye Dianna, enjoy the peace of quiet”. Mom just laughs. “Bring my daughters back in one piece please”. Wilmer laughs nervously. “Of course Dianna”.

We make our way outside to find Maddie keenly buckled in and ready to go. Wilmer hops in the front seat and I jump in the back. “Ok let’s go” Maddie exclaims excitedly. “Not so fast Madison. First there are some basic checks you must complete” Wilmer says calmly. I giggle at his seriousness. Maddie thought we would be ‘fun’ to drive around with but maybe she thought wrong. “Ok, ok” she huffs. “Seatbelt on. Check”. She adjusts her mirrors. “Mirrors. Check.” She turns on the radio. “Music. Check”. I pull myself forward and turn off the radio. “Heeeey!” Maddie whines. “Nope. No music Maddie, not yet. You need to concentrate ok. You need to learn to crawl before you run alright”. She lets out a groan. “Fiiinnneeee. Am I good to go now?” she says sarcastically. I glance at Wilmer and nod my head. “Ok princess, let’s go. Easy now” Wilmer says as she puts the car in reverse and backs out of the driveway.

Wilmer instructs her calmly and I’m surprised with how well she is responding. She’s doing really well; I don’t know what mom was on about. I sit back and relax after all; it is Wilmer who is the good driver. God knows driving is not one of my strong points. I smile at the thought of Dad teaching me to drive and how nervous I made him. I giggle. I can’t believe it’s now Maddie’s turn, she’s growing up so fast. “MADDIE STOP!” Wilmer yells. I am quickly broken from my day dream as the car comes to a sudden stop. I look forward to see we are a few inches away from hitting a black sedan. “What the fuck happened?!” I yell. Maddie sits there motionless. I see tears start to form in her eyes through the mirror. Wilmer gets out of the car to talk to the other driver.

“Hey now, it’s ok baby. These things happen ok. Shhh. Everything’s going to be ok. You should have seen me learning to drive. I gave Dad multiple heart attacks and nearly took down a deer once”. Maddie cracks a smile and laughs. “That’s what I like to see, that beautiful smile of yours”. Wilmer walks back to the car. “Everything ok babe?” I ask. “Yeah he was very understanding, especially when his daughter recognised who you were”. “See Maddie, no harm done” I say, rubbing her back. She wipes away her tears. “How about we take a break and go get some icecream huh?” Wilmer suggests. Maddie and I’s faces light up. “Mmm yes please” I lick my lips at the thought. “Yum!” Maddie exclaims, back to her happy and bubbly self. “You feel ok to keep driving Mad?” I ask her. “Yeah I’m good sis, thanks you guys”. I smile at Wilmer. He nods back.
