I loved being at my family’s home with Wilmer. One; because I love my family so much, two; because I loved seeing Wilmer get along and be a part of the family and three; when hard memories come up associated with being home I have him here with me. He makes me feel safe. He makes me feel loved. He makes me feel everything plus more. I love him so much. I’d been looking forward to this weekend so much. We had just finished up dinner and there was a football game on that Dad was watching. Maddie was on her phone like usual and Dallas and Rob were curled up on the couch snuggling into each other. Mum was clattering away in the kitchen finishing up the dishes. Wilmer and I lay on a separate couch. I was lying between his legs, leaned up against his chest with a blanket thrown over us for warmth. I was happy, I was content. I wasn’t really interested in the game, Wilmer was glued to the TV like his life depended on it but that was about to change I decided.

I open the door slowly, peering in. She is sitting on the edge of her bed, eyes glued to her phone. “Maddie. We need to talk about what you saw” I say sitting beside her. Wilmer just stands there awkwardly. “Maybe you should wait outside hey babe. Think we need a girl chat hmm”. “Sure Nena” he replies as he leaves the room and closes the door behind him. “Come on Maddie, talk to me”. She lets out a huff, puts down her phone and states “you were having sex, I get it. I’m sorry you had to see us like that. There are things my baby sister really shouldn’t see”. “Yeah I wish I could erase it, trust me” she says back. I see her softening a bit now. We had talked boys and stuff but never had we had a full blown sex conversation, even though we were a very open family. “Do you have any questions?” I ask her, putting on my responsible sister role. “What’s it like?” she asked looking up at me with innocent curiosity. “It’s one of the most amazing and special experiences you can ever have with someone Maddie. Yes it feels good but it’s more than that. It’s a connection. It’s about love and two people becoming one and showing that love. It’s hard to explain but know I love Wilmer with everything I have ok and that’s how we express our love to each other” she nods. “It’s not something to think of as gross or off limits ok. You can always talk to me about anything. I mean that ok?” “Thanks Dems. I love you”. “I love you two baby girl” I say, pulling her into a hug. “Oh and Dems?” she asks, getting off the bed. “Yeah?” I reply, standing up with her. “Maybe tell Wilmer to love you a bit less because you are loud ok” I blush scarlet red. “Maddie!!” I say in a high pitched voice, I slap her butt playfully and chase her out of the room.
Wilmer is standing there with his back against the wall, arms crossed. “We all good here Mad?” he asks her, making his wolf head with his hand. “We’re good. I love you guys” she says back, mimicking her hand to look the same as Wilmer’s. “Let’s go get some dessert yeah” I say as Wilmer wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me into a passionate kiss. “I love you Hermosa” he says before we make our way downstairs. “Where have you guys been? I thought I was going to have to call a search party!” Mum says giggling. “Demi and Wilmer were upstairs having sex!” Maddie yells in her best tattle tale voice. Mum and Dad shoot me and Wilmer a death stare. “We sorted it ok mum, right Maddie?” I say to her. “Yeah we did but can y’all warn me next time thogh?” she asks. Eddie walks over to Maddie and wraps his arm around her shoulder. “We all knew sweetie. Looks like someone is growing up and you’ll have to be a part of the secret code now too”. “Oh my god. You guys have a secret code?” I yell, horrified at the thought. “That’s so embarrassing”. “Can we just eat dessert please?” I ask. “Ooooh someone didn’t get to finish dessert upstairs” Dallas teases. I slap her. “Oh my god Dallas!” “Ok we get it. Enough with the jokes ok” I say grabbing a bowl. “Mmmm dessert, looks good beautiful. Let’s dig in everybody” Dad says, leaning down and giving mum a peck on her lips. “Thank you” I mouth to dad. He just grins. I love my family. Nothing like being at home. I giggle to myself before heaping a spoonful of apple crumble onto my bowl.
