Chapter 16

Jazzy and Gracie walked ahead of us, but Justin and I were still closely behind them were we could see them.

I felt Justin’s arm slide around my waist and he pulled me into his side. I smiled and looked up at him and he looked down at me and smiled. I am so lucky I thought to my self.

“I’m lucky too.” Justin said. Oops, guess I didn’t say that to my self after all. We walked behind Gracie and Jazzy keeping a good eye on them as they walked up to the next door.

I was more than excited to stay the night at Justin’s tonight. But I was also nervous because what if we actually went the whole way? I know I wasn’t a virgin, but I wasn’t sure about Justin. I think he still was. I doubt he and Aimee ever hooked up.

“Hey babe?” Justin said snapping me out of my thoughts.

“Huh?” I said turning my attention to him.

“Whatcha thinking about?”

“Oh nothing.” I lied.

“You’re lying Sel. Remember I can tell when you’re lying, plus you were making your thinking face.” He smiled.

“I have a thinking face?”

“Yep. And it’s a cute thinking face too.” He said kissing my forehead. “So tell me what you were thinking about Sel. And the truth.”

“Just about tonight and if—“

“If we end up having sex?” Justin asked raising his brow. I nodded my head. “Listen Sel, if it happens, it happens. I’m not complaining.” He chuckled. I nodded my head and we both turned our attention back to Jazzy and Gracie.

We arrived to the next house which was familiar.

It was Colton’s house.

I tensed up and Justin must have felt it.

“Hey Sel what’s wrong?”

“This is Colton’s house.” I mumbled.

“Oh, well we can skip it if you want?”

“Nah it’s cool.” I smiled. “How about we go up to the door with the kids?” I said.

“Sure.” Justin smirked.

Justin and I walked up behind Gracie and Jazzy and Gracie rung the door bell.

Soon Colton opened the door and once he saw us—well me, his eyes widened scanning my body and Justin noticed so he pulled me closer to him.

“Trick-or-treat!” Both Gracie and Jazzy said.

Colton smiled and gave both kids some candy. We were about to leave and go to the next house when I heard my name being called. I turned around seeing it was Colton’s mom.

Colton’s mom always liked me when we were dating. She thought I was a good influence on Colton. She even planned our future and everything.

Yeah kind of weird if you tell me.

“Oh, hi Mrs. Haynes.” I said awkwardly.

“How have you been Selena? You hardly come around anymore?” She said.

“Well that’s bec—“I began but Colton interrupted me.

“Mom, we’re not dating anymore.” He mumbled.

Yeah Colton may be a tough guy, but when it comes to his mama, he gets all soft. Mama’s boy may I say.

“What why not?” Mrs. Haynes exclaimed. She never knew her ‘picture perfect son’ is a bully and a cheater, but I think it’s time she knows.

“It’s nothing mom.” He groaned.

“Selena what happened?” She asked looking at me.

I looked at her but then looked at Colton and he gave me a pleading look begging not to say anything. I sighed and let out a breath.

“Just differences.” I said. “It was nice seeing you Mrs. Haynes, but I need to go.” I smiled.

“Oh, okay Selena. It was nice seeing you!” She smiled. I smiled back and waved bye to her and Justin, the kids and I began our way home. Luckily it was only a 20 minute walk.

“Why didn’t you tell Colton’s mom the truth?” Justin asked after a long awkward silence.

“Because Colton’s mom is really nice, and I don’t wanna see her upset for the real truth why Colton and I broke up.” I said. I mean it was sort of the truth.

“Why would she be so upset?” Justin asked.

“Because she really did love me. Like a daughter. Every time I would come over she would make sure she would have chocolate chip cookies made, and she would always talk about mine and Colton’s future. Like she was already planning our wedding, and how many kids we were gonna have.” I chuckled.

“That’s weird.” Justin said.

“It was, but it was also sweet.” I said. “She’s a nice lady. I don’t see how Colton is her child.”

“Have you ever met his dad?”

“Nope. Every time I went over his house, Colton’s dad would leave for some reason. I never knew why. I really only met the man once and that was at a family gathering at Colton’s.” I said shrugging my shoulders.

It has been at least an hour since Justin, the kids and I arrived back at Justin’s house. We were all in the living room and Jazzy and Gracie were eating some of their candy and we all watched Halloween Town.

The movie finally came to an end, and luckily the kids weren’t hyper. They actually were tired.

“Okay time for bed you two. Both of you can take a bath first then bed.” I said getting up from the couch.

“Okay Selly.” Jazzy yawned. Both kids got up and followed me up to the bathroom.

After I gave the girls their baths and got them in bed I went back down stairs to find Justin waiting for me with a blanket on top of him, popcorn in his hand and a scary movie in the dvd player.

“Ready for a scary movie?” Justin asked.

“You’re on Bieber!” I smirked.
