Thomas/Newt Part 1

Thomas was someone who wanted to know everything. So when he saw a hunt in the deadheads. He decided to check it out without the other gladers knowing. What he didn't expect to see was a bed with a little girl, with h/c hair, who was sleeping. He made his way out and jogged away from the hut and bumped into Chuck.

"Greenie are you ready for the bonfire tonight?" Chunk had asked Thomas, since they didn't know his name yet.

Thomas nodded and made his way to were everyone was getting ready for the night, apart from Ably and Newt who went into the deadheads for something. When they came back, Newt was holding something, or rather someone, that was hiding in there head in his shoulder. Chunk ran over to them and Newt had put the person down, but she grabbed onto Newts leg and Alby's hiding from Chunk whilst giggling. Soon Chunk got her to play with him and they ran off near the gardens. While she was there playing and giggling with Chunk, Thomas thought she had something familiar about her.  Soon Newt joined them to tell the little girl that the runners were coming back. She squealed in excitement and was jumping about. The gladers began to laugh at her, then got back to what they needed to do. When the bonfire was going on the little h/c haired girl was sitting with the runners. Well, with one in particular, Minho, the keeper of the runners. While she was giggling at him, she didn't realise that she was being watched.

"Y/n can you come here please?" Newt called out to her, and Thomas could see what she was wearing.

She looked over to him, nodded, but before she ran over to him, she kissed Minho's cheek. She ran straight into Newt's open arms, as he had crouched down to her level for her. She giggled as she kissed his cheek, then Newt, after standing up with her in his arms, made his way over to Thomas. He sat down next to him with a carious little girl sitting on his lap.

"Greenie, meet y/n. Y/n meet the new greenie." Newt introduced them to each other.

"Hello, it's nice to meet you." The sweet little girl greeted with a smile on her face.

"Hey, it's nice to meet you too. How old are you?" Thomas also greeted, whilst asking the question as well.

"This old!" She exclaimed, whilst holding up four fingers.

"Wow!" He answered surprised, but he felt slightly guilty for some reason. "Your so young." He told her while smiling.

She talked to him and Newt for awhile, until she ran of to Minho again. She climbed onto his lap and snuggled into his chest, he wrapped an protective arm around her. Thomas watched her in doing so, and when he looked at Newt, he saw that he was as well.

"Why is she so close to him?" He asked Newt.

"She's his baby sister. She has been here for two years and seen most of the people that have come and gone from this place." Newt began to tell him. "She was about two when she came up. All the gladers were surprised and shocked. A letter sitting next to her while she was asleep explaining who she was." Newt finished.

"What's his name?" He asked again.

"Minho, the keeper of the runners." Newt simply told him.

The next day

Y/n was helping Newt in the gardens, well trying to help since she was so small. She had her blue shirt tried around her waist looking like she was doing a lot of work.

"Newtie we don't have any fertiliser." Y/n pouted.

He laughed then looked towards Thomas who was asking lots of questions. He sent Thomas in the deadheads to get some more as she squealed in delight, because then she can carry on her own little part in the gardens. The next they saw Thomas, was him shouting for help, with Ben chasing after him. They helped him and Chunk took y/n away to help get Thomas looked at. While at the med-jacks, y/n was very interested in what Jeff was doing. Later the day y/n was taking a nap by the tree in the shade, with Chunk sitting next to her, whilst Newt, Zart and Thomas was chopping a tree stump down. When y/n woke up, she was shaking and shivering with tears streaming down her cheeks. Chunk saw this and dropped whatever was in his hands and pulled her to his chest.

"NEWT!!" Chunk then screamed for him, because even though he could calm her down a bit, Newt and Minho were the only two that could calm her down completely.

When Newt looked over and saw y/n shivering whilst holding onto Chunk like her life depended on it, he ran faster then he ever has. When he reached them he fell to his knees and soothed her, whilst taking her from Chunk. Chunk excused himself and just let Newt talk to her and went to find Alby. Thomas was about to begin to walk over to them, but was stopped by Ably who had ran to them when he found out that she had woken up like that.

"Thomas, just let Newt handle this. There is only two people that can calm her down from that state." Ably told him whilst he was watching them like an hawk.

"Why is she like that?" Thomas asked. As he is she carious all the time.

Ably didn't say anything for a while until he looked at him and said four things.

"We have three rules. One. Everyone does their part. No slackers. Two. Never hurt another Glader. You have to trust each other. And three, never go outside the Glade, unless you're a Runner. The glade wasn't as peaceful as it is now." Alby told him then looked back to Newt and y/n, who was still making whimpering noises but had calmed down a lot.

"So you mean that she was here when there were still problems?" Thomas asked starin at the innocent little girl.

"We had dark times and she came near the end, but she saw things that not even you will ever see in your life time. At such a young age as well." Alby explained then walked up to them.

Newt turned his head and nodded it, saying it was alright to come close. Alby crouched down to y/n's level, who was sniffing and gave little whimpers ever now and then. Alby gave Newt the rest of the day off, knowing she wasn't going to be letting Newt go anytime soon. Thomas made his was over to them and his heart shank when he heard her little whimpers. He made it his mission then to make her happy. Somehow, after hours of trying, he had done it. He had made y/n smile, and made her giggle the giggle everyone loved to hear, even Gally.

When Minho returned he was told what had happened, also that Ben was stung and being banished for injuring another glader. He asked Chunk to watch her while he did the banishment, which he gladly said yes to. Thomas was going to go with them, but he got carious again. While little y/n and Chunk were playing, they got the banishment over with and went to find them. They found Chunk asleep with a pouting little girl next to him with her sitting on her bum, legs and arms crossed. Everyone laughed and she ran up to Minho, after standing up, and jumping into his arms.
