I closed my eyes and continued to cry but then I felt her moving in my arms. My eyes popped open and Sam was mumbling, yet her eyes were still unseeing, staring upwards.

"Who's there?" she whimpered. Sam was alive! My tears quickly turned into tears of joy and I held her closer. She was alive, she hadn't left me.

"It's me," I answered relief flooding my voice.I touched her face and couldn't help but laugh and cry of happiness. Just as my relief had come I was filled with an all new concern. Sam started crying and then I looked at the arrow. It was still lodged in her skull.

"Can you see anything?" I whimpered and searched her face for any signs of recognition.

"It's all just black," she cried. "Allison, help me"

I looked up and people were still off fighting for their lives. Yet here I was, trying to help my bestfriend who was in need and all because of my fault.

You have to move her, put her somewhere where she'd be safe.

"Come on I have to move you somewhere safe," I said and began lifting her body. Sam continued to silently cry and once again I felt a pit forming in my stomach. Why did I always fuck things us? Why couldn't I do anything right anymore? I looked around and spotted Wyatt on one of the cars. He was laying down on his stomach, keeping low with a sniper in his hands. The car he was on top of was empty and right now I just needed to be near someone who would understand me. I brought Sam over to the side of the car and opened up the door.

"Come on just slide in," I whispered. Her arms reached out to steady herself and feel her surroundings.

"I think I could get used to this," she joked.

"I'm sorry," I said and then started to bawl.

"Look, it's not your fault. Shit happens. There's no use in feeling sorry for ourselves. Now go out there and fight!" she replied with tears streaming down her face.

I nodded and then closed the door of the car. Wyatt was still on the car, concentrating.

"Wyatt, please take care of Sam," I said.

"Sure, no problem," he replied not breaking his concentration from the gun. "They need help. Up in the front, stick to the left of the cars and you'll get to where you need to be. Stay hidden and stay down. This thing is massive."

I nodded and couldn't help but smile. I always had someone looking out for me and that's all I really cared about. I just needed to feel that people needed me and that I was wanted. I made my way to the left of the cars and stayed low. As I neared the front of the line I could hear the sounds of fighting and people calling out orders. I snuck a peek from over one of the cars and spotted the source of the noise. There was a fence that has fallen over and from the other side a horde of zombies was slowly making its way through. I could already see bodies littering the floor and others being pulled away to safety.

I continued to stay low but moved to a car that was closer to them. There was a zombie banging on one of the cars and a terrifed child huddled in the back with her mom. I quickly dispatched it with an arrow to the head. I let out a slow breath and continued making my way to the fight. Robert and Andy were fighting back to back. They were a force to be reckoned with. I noticed Alec off to the side fighting his way through the horde. They had to cover up where the fence had been or else we'd never move from this spot.

I looked around and spotted a vacant car. I quickly bashed the window in and with all the sounds of the fighting no one else was alerted. I opened up the car and began trying to hot wire this. I cursed under my breath and my hands were shaking. Keep it together. I got the car to start and I couldn't help the little yelp of happiness. I stood up to be able to enter the car completely when a hand shot out from under the car and grabbed onto my ankle. I twisted free and cursed repeatedly under my breath. I quickly grabbed my knife and bent down slightly to look under the car.

There was nothing there.

I heard the continuing noises of the fight and I couldn't think about what had just happened. They needed my help and they needed it now. I burst into action and quickly turned the car around. I honked once and grabbed the attention of all the zombies. Everyone took advantage of that and I could tell they already knew my intentions. Robert grabbed Andy's arm and they quickly went to shelter. Alec stood by the entrance and continued to fight off the zombies. I revved the engine and then slammed my foot on the gas.

I was going to let the car plow into the zombies and stop them from advancing any further.

As the car neared the entrance Alec jumped out of the way at the same time that I lept from the car.

The sound of the car smashing into mutiple pounds of flesh was sickening. The zombie moans seemed to grow even more desperate.

Have you ever had your car stuck in mud? Imagine that same situation, but with pounds of zombie flesh keeping the car from moving forward.
