Chapter 9

Spencers POV

The last time I saw Ryder was the day of the incident with that Aiden guy. I didn't even get a chance to tell him my name until Ryder showed up and snatched me away from him. He gave no explanations and just full on glared at Aiden with a murderous look in his eyes. By the time I went to apologize, Aiden was gone. He left just as quick as he had come. I wanted to know why he had done that, but suddenly he looked at me with a whole new expression before he masked his emotions and turned away and left.

I was dying to speak to him, but it was almost as if he was avoiding me. We didn't have any class together the rest of this week since it was cancelled and he hadn't gone by my house this week or given me any new lessons. I was probably a little desperate, but I think I deserved an explanation. Aiden seemed like a nice guy and Ryder treated him like shit, excuse my French.

It was finally the weekend and I had been looking forward to it all week. Daddy was going on a business trip and I would have the house all to myself. Chloe couldnt come and stay with me because her mom was making the rare visit and she had to spend time with her. Ryder hadn't been coming around to annoy me so I don't expect him to show up either. I was pulled away from my thoughts when I heard the doorbell ring. I was wondering who it could be since daddy was due to leave in about an hour and I wasn't expecting anyone.

I guess you could say the saying "Speak of the devil and he shall appear" is pretty accurate right now because I wasn't expecting the devil himself Ryder to show up at my door, it was more like "Think of the devil and he shall appear." I probably couldn't even deny the fact that my mouth was hanging wide open at this point which caused Ryder to smirk that famous smirk at me. Boy how I've missed seeing him do that.

Pulling myself together I heard him say, "Well are you going to let me in or are you just going to stand there catching flies? I mean I know I'm gorgeous and all, but its kind of hot outside and I need to talk to your dad before he leaves." I blushed and moved out of the way mumbling a quick sorry and hello.

I followed him up to my dads office where he was doing some last minute things before he left for the weekend. "Hey daddy, Ryder is here to see you." I told him while Ryder proceeded to say, "Afternoon Sal" with a nod of his own. My father nodded back and I thought it must have been a guy thing.

"I'm here to ask you by my parents request before they leave with you and also because I think it will be safer if Spencer can spend the weekend at my house? I don't really know if you will approve of the idea, but I just think she shouldnt stay alone in this huge house without anyone to watch over her well being." Ryder said.

I was still in the room when Ryder began to speak and I couldn't believe what he just told my dad. I can perfectly take care of myself. I was shooting daggers his way not caring that he might turn around and catch me. "Well son, she has done it plenty of times before and by the look on her face I can tell she's going to put up a fight, I trust you enough for her to stay there, but she's always been safe here, may I know what brought this on?" Daddy said.

"Of course I'm going to put up a fight!" I yelled right when Ryder turned to look at me. "I'm standing right here and you guys are talking about me as if I'm not here, I was looking forward to this weekend alone without having anyone to bother me!" I ranted on directly looking at Ryder. "Look S, how about we hear Ryder out? I firmly believe that he wouldn't ask of this knowing how you are and how stubborn you are." Daddy tried to calm me down.

"Look Sal, earlier this week there was an incident at Uni that has me firmly believing that Spencer is not safe." Ryder explained before I interrupted him, "You mind telling me about what incident that might be because last time I checked you've been avoiding me all week after I met that Aiden guy and left me with no explanations after!" I started yelling again. At the mention of Aiden I felt as though the atmosphere in the room changed, and not for the better.
