We drove to the high school. I looked out the window and examined everything that we passed. There were houses and stores. And some people walking with their dogs and people running. When we got to the school, it was 7:21. We were a little late but I don't think it mattered. We got out of the car and walked into the doors. It was a large building with red walls. There wasn't many people in the hallways so I guess they were all in class. There were little doors with locks on them lined up in the walls. I guess that's where everyone put their stuff. We walked into another room and a short lady greeted us.

"Hi, I'm Mrs. Hills, the principal. May I help you with something?" The lady asked kindly.

"Hi. I would like to enroll my son, Kellin, in this school." Kevin said. I smiled acknowledging that I was Kellin. I figured I should let Kevin do all the talking.

"Okay. Well you need to fill out a registration form in my office and some other forms. Do you want to do it now? It will take about 20 minutes." Mrs. Hills said.

"Sure." Kevin said as we all walked into her office. We filled out the forms, (I had to help Kevin with some of them because he didn't know some of my information) and we thanked Mrs. Hills. She gave me my class schedule to show what classes I was going to and when and we walked out of her office. I looked at my schedule.

Period 1; Histroy; room C307; Ms. Walker.                Period 2; English; room D419; Mr. Batewell. Ect....

I read through everything it said. It was very confusing.

"Well I have to go somewhere now so here..." Kevin handed me a phone. I have only seen one of these and it was my Dad's. He tought me how to use it. But this on was kind of different. I looked up at Kevin.

"Why do I need this?" I asked confusingly.

"My cell phone number is in your phone. Call me when school is done and I will come get you, unless you have another ride. I also put my address in it." Kevin said. I nodded in approval and walked away. I heard him say 'good luck' as I walked down the long hallway. I looked into rooms as I passed by. I have never seen so many people that were in my age group. I was petrified yet excited at the same time. I wanted to know what life was like as a teenager in these times. Kevin told me there were parties and fun but also fights and some other stuff. I lived in war times... I'm pretty sure I could handle a fight.

Just then, someone collided with me as I tripped a little and hit the wall. I looked over at the person who had ran into me. He was shorter then I was, He had long, dark, wavy hair and he was of the mexican race. He was also kinda cute. He was wearing a red shirt and regular denim jeans. He looked at me, looking kind of embarressed.

"Sorry, man. I didn't see you there." he said.

"It's okay...." I said quickly. I was kind of scared to interact with him. Noticing my fear, he continued to speak. I tried to walk away but he stopped me by continuing our conversation.

"Well, anyway many s... I'm Vic." He said. VIC.... VICTOR FUENTES...... I WAS STANDING IN FRONT OF THE MAN WHO DESTROYED THE WORLD..... well the man who is gonna destroy the world. So many thoughts rushed through my head at this moment. At first I just wanted to kill him, just end it all right here and right now. But all my thoughts of hatred had to wait. I was assigned to a task and I had to obey my orders.

"I-I'm Kellin." I said. My voice sounded kinda shaky but I couldn't help it.

"Oh are you new? Sorry if you're not.. I just have never seen you around before." he said nicely.

"Yes, no...... I mean yes. I am new. I just started going here literally 10 minutes ago." I said. I felt so stupid for mixing up my words. But he didn't think it was wierd. He smiled at my mix-up and chuckeled a little.

"Oh well are you lost?" he asked in a kind of hopful tone.

"Um.. yea I am, actually. Where is room C307?" I asked. I was trying to act normal and ignore the fact that he was the cause of the world war. I still felt scared as fuck though.

"Oh it's... well I think I can show you better then I can tell you." he said as he walked down the hallway. I follwed him down. I looked at the pictures on the walls of the sports teams and the achievement awards. It all looked so new to me. To think that people actually played sports and won medals for those kind of things. I wish I knew how to play a sport. My dad would sometimes play catch with me to cheer me up but that was a rare occasion. I was mostly alone while my dad worked and went back and forth to different places. Me and vic continued walking amonst the school hallways towards my class.

"So... why aren't you in class?" I said. I felt like it was stupid of me to ask because maybe he was skipping class on purpose and he would question why I said it. Maybe that's why he joins the army. He skipped class so much that colleges wouldn't except him. I mean like, I heard the story of how his parents couldn't pay but maybe theres more than one reason.

" I have study hall this period, so I didn't want to go." He said not turning around to look at me directly. I didn't know what study hall was but  I just went with it. We walked up two flights of stairs to the third floor and turned to the next hallway. We stopped at the class that said 'Room C307'. The door was closed.

"Thanks for the help." I said.

"No Problem." he said. Right before I walked in Vic stopped me.

"What period do you have lunch?" He asked me. I opened my bag and pulled my schedule out of it. I scanned it until I got to the word lunch.

"Fifth period... Why?" I asked in confusion.

"Well I have it fifth too. Maybe you can sit with me and my friends? If you want to...." he said with a cute smile.

"Sure." I said smiling back.

"Okay well then see you at lunch." he said as he walked away.
