Moving to another state is probably one of the hardest things I've ever done, to be honest. There's a feeling of resentment after leaving everything behind, everything you've worked on and all your accomplishments. It doesn't make the situation better when it's L.A. that I abandoned, along with all of my friends, in order to move to Buckeye, a small and rather unknown city in Arizona. To make matters worse, I left in the middle of high school.
"Who's the idiot that made that decision?" you may ask. Well, if you don't know already, the City of Angels is fucking expensive. Our family didn't have that kind of money anymore after my dad had been laid off. So we moved down here when he was offered a job. Down to the desert where there's no beach (or water for that matter) in sight.
I'm not trying to be a crabby brat or anything, but come on. Arizona isn't on your top ten places to visit either, so check yourself before you start hating. Unlike me, my brother liked this place from the moment we crossed the state border. Unlike me, my father agreed with his opinion. Funny how that works.
"You're gonna get wrinkles from all that frowning," the priest, also known as Joshua, poked a sticky finger at my forehead. I shooed his hand away and proceeded to read a Sherlock fan fiction on my phone (I had already flown through twelve chapters, and I wasn't planning on stopping anytime soon). He finished the rest of the PB&J sandwich in his opposite hand and licked his fingers clean.
"My face isn't going to change expression until Watson admits his undying love for Holmes," I retorted after commenting on his actions with a hushed "Gross."
"Is that... gay fan fiction? Tommy, that's like porn. I thought I raised a morally upright little sister?" And the priest strikes again.
"I'm going to pretend like I didn't hear any of that last part. And yes, it's gay fan fic. They're probably gonna fuck in the next two minutes" —I gave him a bitter smile— "so it'd be great if you, like, left. Now."
He sent me a glare and then rolled his eyes. "You're unbelievable."
"Unbelievably good looking!" I did my signature pose (a simple 'v' shape made by my thumb and index finger that I held under my chin—taught to me by my best friend), and he scoffed before leaving our room with the slam of the door.
Once I was sure that he was gone and as far away from our door as possible, I exited the Wattpad app and tapped on Kakao Talk to read the messages that had been sent to me earlier. It's not like I was hiding my conversations or anything. It's just that Josh gets really nosey, and I don't need extra attention when my best friend and I talk about anything and everything. If the topic of crushes comes up, I don't want my brother to be all up behind my shoulder trying to read whatever I'm typing, only to scold me later using the Bible.

Can I call you?
I wanna hear your voice. I feel lonely

You're so dramatic. But fine. I'm bored anyway.

Welcome, Carats, to my new mess of a fan fic. I've been on hiatus for so dang long and now that I'm back I feel so refreshed.
If you're new to my books, at the end of every chapter I have end notes (what you're reading rn). Sometimes it's just random crap, but other times there's v important info that you must read! What I'm trying to say is: please make sure to read the end notes!
Seventeen is having a comeback, and I wanted to give new Carats quality crap to read. Hopefully, this is good enough??? If not, oh well. I'm writing it anyway.
You guys are gonna have to help me to get these updates up regularly, alright? Maybe every Saturday I should post one? Spam me on Friday nights and Saturday mornings so that I know to get it done. If I miss the deadline by like a day or two, don't hurt me. If I miss the deadline by a month, come track me down, tie me to a chair, give me my phone, and don't let me leave until I finish the update. A month is unacceptable.
Shoutout to the Mini Mee fam (aka my lovely followers)! Y'all are amazing, and you deserve only the best of my work! If you're not a Mini Mee, hit that follow button on my profile and become part of the fam! New Mini Mees welcome 💕
