( christine )

Hearing the early morning bell made my eyes snap open and the sleep drain from my body. The thing honestly sounded like rapid gun fire and could instantly wake anyone up.
Getting out of my twin bunk bed I climbed down to the floor and stood beside all the other orphans. We stood in a line in front of our beds ready to receive morning communion from Farther Gabriel. He'd come into sleeping quarters and together we'd all recite the Apostles Creed, sing a holy praise, then while singing our praise we'd walk down to the Sanctuary for mass. Mass is where we receive our communion.
Once was mass is formally closed I immediately sprinted off to find Mama Carmen, who of course was in the kitchen. Bursting through the kitchen doors Mama Carmen turned quickly with her wooden spoon raised in the air, as if she were going to fight. Seeing it was me she lowered her spoon turning back to her pot, but slipped in a few unholy words. I giggled running up behind her, hugging her from behind

"Buenos días abuela." [Good morning grandmother.]

"Oi ! Niña lo que es lo que quiere?" [Oi! Child what is you want?]

I side eyed the plate of Pastelillo placed on the counter top, hinting at what I wanted. Mama Carmen always had pastelillos cooked for the men of the ministry, so she didn't have to cook for them during lunch hour.

"No, no, usted sabe que esos son para!" [No, no, you know who those are for.]

I looked at her with large eyes and a pout on my face, yeah it usually didn't work and most times she'd threaten to slap the pout off my face, but today I was testing my luck.

"Si te doy uno le deje mi cocina?" [If I give you one will you leave my kitchen?]

"Si! Si!"

Rolling her eyes playfully at me, Mama Carmen place a pastelillo in the napkin neatly wrapping it as she handed it to me.

"Bueno mami, estar en su camino." [Okay mami, be on your way.]

Mama Carmen gave me a light tap on the bum and kicked me out of the kitchen. I laughed at the woman hold my snack close to my chest as I walked back to the sleeping ward to retrieve my bag.
Today I had the chore of delivering, so I'd be delivering supplies that the church packs to those in need in the slums. Some kids would be packing the packages, some would go buy supplies, and others (like me) would deliver.
Going into the sleeping ward I could see Farther Gabriel picking up the toys and loose items around the room.

"Más lejos." [Farther.]

I greeted respectfully bowing my head before continuing toward my bed to grab my bag.

"Ah, Christine. El niña Me'v estado buscando." [Ah, Christine. The child I've been looking for.]

I stopped in my tracks towards the door and looked towards Farther.

"¿Mirando? ¿Para mi?" [Looking? For me?]

"Si tú, mi pequeño. Señora Nina llamó y dijo que se necesita en su oficina tan pronto como sea posible." [Yes you, my little one. Ms. Nina called and said she needed you at her office as soon as possible.]

"Por qué?"

"Ella no dijo , pero ella implicaba que era muy importante." [She didn't say, but she did imply it was very important.]

Obeying Farther's orders I gathered my bag and headed out the front doors of the Church walking toward Señora Nina's office. Nina was a young woman who was a member of Farther Gabriel's church and also the most hated women by all us orphans. She liked to be nice to us around Farther, but was a complete fake. Nina also was an assistant for the biggest lawyer in our village, Señor Luis Gomez. His law firm lay three blocks from the church, that is why I decided to walk instead of take my bike. Soon the view came within eye range and in no time I was climbing up the steps and entering the building. Within seconds I was attacked by Nina, she had grabbed my arm and started to drag me down a hall while mumbling under her breath.

"Oi, lo que te pasa loco?" [Oi! What's wrong with you crazy?"]

I snatched my arm from her death grip, rubbing it. We were stopped in front of a door now as we had a tiny glare off.

"Cuando entramos en esta sala, es mejor que se comportan o te haré desear no haber nacido. Entender?" [When we enter this room, you better behave or you'll wish you'd never been born. Understand?]

"Estoy deseando que en este momento." [I'm wishing that right now.]

I mumbled rolling my eyes, causing her to glare at me once again. I smiled at her with a fake smile as I awaited her to open the door. Inside sat a Caucasian male and woman, alongside Mr. Luis staring at me. Now this where my confusion comes into play.
