Chapter 24

 

once he was gone another cop came in and took the handcuff off as I got up stretching after sitting in that uncomfortable chair for so long. He directed me down the same hall I had been in a few days before when I had gotten arrested for the incident in the mall. While walking I got to the office area where the cop that arrested me the previous time was sitting chatting with other cops. Smiled and waved at him as he glared furiously at me. I felt satisfied as I finally got outside and looked around. My dad and Dante were not here this time, I didn't have my cell phone or gun with me to call someone to bring me a car. I saw a payphone and dug in my pocket for my wallet. Luckily I had enough change to make a call. I pushed the change in and punched in the numbers hopefully it was correct

"Hello" He answered quickly sounding amused

 

"Hey Mark it river I need another favor" I said as he started laughing

 

"I'm guessing you're at the station in old downtown" he said laughing

 

"yeah, come bring me my gun and phone I left in your car" I said as I could hear him saying something to someone,

 

"sure be there a few" mark said hanging up as I went and sat on the bench outside the station

 

I sat on the bench for a long time while I waited for Mark to show up and waiting for Jane to come out. It seemed pretty busy with people walking around into shops that were around the police station. Cars passed by with driving staring at me with curiosity, while police cursor passed by with cops glaring at me his passion. After a while, I was getting really irritated that Mark was taking so long, but as I watch for his car a man came out of the station and stopped and looked at me. He was the same man who I had seen talking to the lawyer when I was drought in earlier

 

"Hello River" the man said walking toward me extending his hand as I glared at him "Oh excuse me, I'm Jonathan Canton," he said smiling again at it finally clicked in my mind why he looked familiar

 

"nice to meet you Mr. Canton" I said standing up and shaking his hand, yes I hated his son, but it's not his fault and I couldn't be rude to him after he got most of the charges dropped and he worked for Dante

 

"I'm sorry for the mess my son caused you, I'm sure whatever he did, to warrant your action's was well deserved, he has been very upset for the last year about the decision me and Dante have made" he said checking his phone as he spoke

 

"I do not know what decision that was made" I said as he smiled

 

"Oh that right you were still at the boarding school, but David has been acting out against Dante and I after we made the decision not to give David my place once I retire, the job will be going to my younger son Anthony he is a freshmen this year at your old school" he said as he typed away on his phone "David be very upset since we told him he wasn't taking over and has been being a little brat about it, but he just not right for the job he fails math and is a coward, and I told Dante and he agreed to send Anthony who understands my work far more than David could.
