"Wait-I remember your name. Ca-Camila!!" She pronounced her name the correct way, and Camila beamed.
"Nobody ever got my name right," Lauren just smiled. Camila soon found out that they had a lot in common with Lauren which was surreal. They lived in the same town in Miami, they were both of Cuban descent, they both spoke Spanish, and they liked the same artists.
Camila never felt interesting enough, but when she spoke to Lauren, whose eyes bore on her while listening. She felt that she was worth more than she let on. Lauren made her feel important in the time that they talked to each other.
Camila wasn't good at introducing herself but Lauren dragged her and helped introduce her to the people she knew at bootcamp. Camila thought that maybe things weren't as scary as she thought they would, at least with Lauren by her side.
She didn't believe in fate.
She thought her advancement this far in the competition was a miracle. That all changed when she got put in a girl group despite her thinking she was eliminated for good. That all changed when she was put together, of all people, with the girl with the green eyes.
She started to believe, little by little.
Lauren held her hand that day at bootcamp. In Camila's mind, she thought of how perfect her hand was in the other girl's, they fit better than her own hands. She started to think of fate. We're you ever born to be with somebody? If not, then why did it seem like her hand was destined to be in Lauren's?

Camila didn't believe in fate.
That was until she got accepted into her dream university on an academic scholarship. She didn't have much money. Her family just earned enough to get by day-to-day. Her dad was an astrologist, and her mom worked at the local restaurant near their home in Miami. She wanted to be a doctor, so the scholarship was a big help to her and her family.
The university was just a three hour drive from their house, in Miami. She decided she could visit every weekends, if she could.
She unpacked her luggage when she arrived at her dorm one day, emptying out the contents in an attempt to make it feel like home. Her roommate named Ally invited Camila to join her for the first party of the year. Parties weren't Camila's thing but she obliged since she had nothing else to do.
Ally mingled and grabbed drinks while Camila stayed back. The pulsing music was making her heart beat much faster. She soon left the club and started walking down the street. She came across a small pub that had a gig. Camila liked music so she went in. The crowd was cheering for this singer on the small platform.
Camila didn't have a good view from the back. She closed her eyes and listened as the female singer sang a song by Lana Del Rey, the singer's voice was raspy, and soothing. She lost track of time until the crowd clapped for the girl. A bearded guy in a cowboy hat stood up in the podium next and Camila didn't like his music so she went out the pub.
It was dark, with only the lampposts and shop signs illuminating the street. She looked up at the dark blue sky and watched the stars. Her papa would always tell her about certain stars like Polaris, and the constellations. She started counting them, out of habit when she heard someone beside her.
"Are you counting the stars?" Said a husky voice.
Camila didn't look at the stanger and kept squinting at the stars. Nine, Ten, Eleven. "Yeah,"
"That's something you don't see every day. Tell me about them." Said the voice.
Camila stopped at looked at the stranger beside her. She looked just about her age, had white porcelain skin, had long dark hair. She was wearing a leather jacket over a Rolling Stones shirt, and combat boots. The most notable thing about her were her eyes. They looked like the Northern Lights were trapped inside them. Camila couldn't stop staring.
"Green," The girl raised an eyebrow. Camila continued, "there are no green stars. There might be but for the human eye, stars only appear to be white."
The girl, pouted and nodded. She took out a cigarette and lighted it up, sending up smoke in the dark sky.
"There was a good performer earlier, she sang a Lana Del Rey song, only I didn't know the title." Camila said as she returned her gaze to the heavenly bodies.
"Summertime Sadness," the girl said between puffs of smoke, "is the name of the song."
"Oh, alright. Well the girl was really good."
"I'll take that as a compliment." Camila turned to the girl, who smirked.
"I'm sorry I couldn't see you from where I was. You're a really good singer." Camila blushed at her words. She felt suddenly silly. "And I like your shirt."
The girl smiled, and it was then that Camila decided that her smile was prettier that watching the stars. Camila extended out her hand, "My name's Camila by the way."
The girl dropped her finished cigarette, stepped on it and shook her hand. "I'm Lauren."
"Lauren," Camila repeated in her mouth. The unfamiliar girl's name felt strangely familiar in her lips. The moment she uttered it, she felt everything fall into place, as if the universe conspired for this moment to happen.
Lauren stared at her a second too long. She lifted a delicate finger. "I feel like I know you from somewhere, or should know you."
Camila didn't believe in fate. It happened with her college acceptance, and once was enough. But why did she feel like she was fated to meet Lauren on the night of her supposed college party?
"You seem familiar too," Camila offered.
Lauren shook her head. "You see a lot of people like me if you go to Coachella."
Camila laughed. Lauren did look like those girls.
"You know what, I'll tell you this." Lauren moved closer to Camila, her words making her shiver " Maybe we were lovers in our past life."

Also I've been recently fascinated with the idea of having multiple universes where an altered reality is happening, hence an AU. Hope you all like it!! I would love to hear comments etc!
