Turning back the pages of
Memory and tumbling time
I was at the blinking dashboard
Thinking this life was all mineI was lucky enough not to
Crash head on I was fortunate
Enough not to live a life gone I was
Blessed enough not to fly myself
WrongLike easy breathing I grew
In softer clouds than I deserved and
Flew in clearer skies than should
Have been reserved and I'm not
Saying my flight has been
Perfectly preserved--it hasn't--but
Knowing I'm not alone on these
Wayward winds and I'm loved
Above when all else ends...This is all bright and sunny
Brimming with misty golds
But the other side of the rainbow
Is mustard smog and not often toldTrials still smudge in bold and
Temptation never gets old but
Reflection doesn't always show
The whole story and it's a good thing,
Too, because can you imagine? If
I knew all the smog ahead of my
View, all the splattering lies so blue,
I'd be lost through and through
And nothing, nothing
Without You.
