Thank God For Girls

And Be Called Upon

A couple weeks ago

My locker got stuck

My teacher said

"We need someone

Strong

Up here."

I looked around the room

At all the girls who

Could throw a shotput

Wrestle their older brothers for the remote

And come out on top

Had punched me hard enough to bring

Tears to my eyes

Who spat and swore

And talked like guys

But none of them stood up.

Two boys came up instead

And couldn't open it

Until five minutes later

When they finally realized

That it was the top

That was stuck

Not the bottom

I know this is vaguely sexist but . . .

Girls could have done it quicker.
