That You've Known

When I think of all the women I've known

I realize that

Aunt Bethany didn't need a man to travel the world

And help cure cancer

Nana didn't need Grandad to educate the next generation of engineers

And finish college herself

Mom didn't need my dad to get a degree

And write a book

Miss C didn't need the father of her children to raise them

And inspire my friends and I

Mrs. Scott didn't need her husband to find her path

And share it with others

So maybe I don't need a man.
