Chapter 25
We were all sitting in Meow’s bedroom. No one had said anything for a while.
“So,” Zoe began awkwardly, “it’s safe to say that Arman isn’t the stalker.”
Meow gave her a glare and before she could say anything, I spoke up, “I agree. But just to be on the safe side, you can ask Harris about the public locker thing Arman told me? He should know. And if he confirms it, then there’s no reason to doubt Arman more than anyone else.”
“Yeah.” Widzi agreed before we all fell into silence again. There three of them seemed tense.
“It really isn’t that bad.” I said after a few moments, “it could’ve been worse, I mean, at least it isn’t a threat or anything. It’s just a high school kid messing with us.”
“Yes, Mia.” Meow scowled at me, “it isn’t a threat. It’s an email telling me how god awful of a person you are, and if I can’t hate you the least I can do is ignore you for the rest of my life.”
“Again,” I said, “not that bad.”
“This person literally stalks Meow throughout the day and has been stalking you as well AND hates you. It might not be an obvious threat but it’s still a violation of privacy. Tell me again how this isn’t THAT bad?” Zoe said while giving me an incredulous look.
The email had pictures of me instead of Meow. One was with me and Aryan in the library, another with Race outside my house and the last one with Arman at the café we had met up in. The stalker person had called me a lot of bad names, stating that I wasn’t as “respectable” as I made it out to be, and Meow should stay away from me. OK, so the email implied that I was having multiple relations with all of three of the guys and I’m not saying that I wasn’t angry, especially when it was all lies and I had a very good reason to be with each one of them at the time the picture was taken. But in front of the recent attack Race had saved me from, this wasn’t much.
“I’m angry too.” I replied. “I know perfectly well what this person is implying, but seriously, there’s no reason to lose our heads over it.”
“What else can we do?” Widzi spoke. “It’s not like we can take our anger out on him because we don’t even know who it is!”
“We don’t. But we can make contact?” I suggested.
“Contact?” Zoe asked.
“Well, Meow hasn’t replied to any email yet but we do have his email address.” Meow agreed, “Then we can start by replying to this one.”
“Can I reply? I know the most swear words.” Zoe stated proudly which earned her a what-the-hell stare from Widzi.
“No, we’re going to play.” I smirked.
“Play?” Meow asked.
“Yes, act shocked. Ask for details of the pictures, when they were taken etc. Show that you’re convinced, that you’re beginning to doubt if I’m the person you think I am after all.”
“But why would Meow possibly do that?” Widzi, who was outraged by my suggestion asked while I could see an evil smirk begin to form on Zoe’s face.
“I gain the stalker’s trust, and then we catch him!” Meow stated, “Not bad, I don’t like it, but not bad.”
“Yes. We fake a fight, and stay away from each other at school for a while. I doubt that this guy can stay away from you after that.”
“How are you so sure?” Widzi asked.
“Whoever this person is, he thinks that I am coming between him and Meow. He believes I’m the reason Meow isn’t all over him or whatever and I’m turning Meow into a snob. After today’s email, I think these messages don’t really mean to scare Meow, just show her that he cares and most of all, that I am a bad influence. Once I pretend to be out of the picture, he’ll just have to make direct contact with Meow. That’s all he wants right? To be close to Meow.” I said.
