I woke the next day, expecting my same old empty room,  I found myself in a warm room with small things placed here and there. I blinked thinking of my father, what a dream, he had come back and took my to an experimental place. He was cutting open my body and pulled on my organs, taking samples. And all the while he just smiled, muttering to himself. Nothing could help me then, I was chained and locked away forever, until a woman saved my with some wand she spoke through.

I got out of bed and headed to the kitchen for breakfast. Aunt Rosie smiled over at me and pointed to a chair. I took a seat still watching her, over by the stove. I could smell her signature breakfast of Cinilla, cinnamon and vanilla, pancakes and turkey bacon. It as my favorite too, me and Rosie actually had a lot in common. I licked my lip watching her place the plate in front of me. We ate quietly together until she cleared her throat, getting my attention.

"I excused you from school today, your teachers said it was okay and there isn't any homework to make up." she watched me, attentively, looking for something. "It's okay, thank you Auntie Rosie." I said quietly chewing. "You can talk to me if you need to, you know that kiddo." she said smiling, I could see the concern in her eyes. "There's nothing to talk about, I completely understand the situation, I'm fine."

"You're not fine, you're 8 and you had a nightmare last night. I heard you moving around and crying. Please Miranda just talk to me." She said, pleading. I kept my mouth shut and looked down biting my lip. I wasn't aware of the tears that started falling my cold food. I didn't notice my Aunt get up to hug me and I didn't hear as the news blared on to be aware of a 10 year old girl. I closed my eyes, clenching the fork tightly. "I just... Why didn't he love me Aunt Miranda, was I that bad.?" I asked dropping the fork and and loosely wrapping my arms around her waist.

She rubbed my head sadly, "He loved you very much when you were born. No one would have guessed that you could have done any bad. He tried you know, he really tried for you. Someday you'll be back with him and it'll be okay." she said her words soothing to the ear. Her normal loud happy voice turned to one of a sweet consular. "Why didn't it work? When I tried to heal him, it didn't work."

"Maybe it wasn't meant to work this time. Remember everything happens at it's own pace for a reason. Just trust in God." my aunt used that as an answer for everything, but this time it felt right. "Thank you  auntie." I said letting her go. I started eating again finally looking up at  the T.V. A man and a woman stood both in tears. The woman wouldn't even look at the camera as the man described some little girl through sniffles.

"Did you hear about that yesterday, turns out there are more people like you. Maybe her burst drained your energy or something?" my aunt figured as she too sat down. I whispered a small 'maybe' although I wasn't to sure about it being true. The day went on and not much happened, she went to work and I got settled into my new room. Everyday, after, I went to school and came home. I ate snack doing my homework nothing really changed.
