As usual I ate breakfast pretty fast and sneaked out to the library.  Like anyone knows, children under the 5th grade aren't allowed to leave the cafeteria. It's not like it wasn't easy though. anyone can do it. There's one door they never watch over, because my school is so low on staff and all the teachers stay in their class.

I made my way through the halls to the big glass door with white bold letters spelling 'LIBRARY' over it. I stood at the door, looking in at the 5 people sitting around. They were all on computers playing games and whispering or laughing. I opened the door and said a small hello to Ms. Quincy.

"Oh Ms. Miranda hello, I missed you the other day, where were you?" she asked looking up from the key board. I only assume she was doing working, checking stock and inventory. "Oh um ma'am I was wondering if you had any books on uh teleporting or magical stuff?" I said looking down timidly. It's not like I haven't dealt with weird things happening all the time. I just though maybe that whole thing in Tangled was real and I was gifted like her.

She looked at me quizzically before simply nodding, and typing quickly. After a while of silence and me looking around worried. Worried about what I'm not sure. "It appears we have one book labeled, 'Extrasensory Perception' by Joseph Bank Rhines. Although this seems like higher level book, are you sure you want it?" I nodded quickly, "Anything would be helpful thank you." I said still nodding.

She guided me over to a book in an area full of big books. Bigger than any I've read so far. She pulled out a fairly thick light blue book and gave it to me. We walked back to the front counter, while I looked through it. Before she rung it up and gave it back to me she looked at me again, that same look. "May I just ask, why the sudden interest in extra sensory perception?" I pursed my lips trying to think of an excuse. She chuckled handing me the blue documentary and said, "Must be a new fad going on huh, guess I should stock up those now then."

With those last words I hurried out and to my class, entering just before the bell rang letting the students out of breakfast. I stuffed the book in my backpack, and hung it in my cubby. I sat at my seat and pulled out a Dora pencil. Soon my class was all seated and whispering waiting for our teacher Ms. Winny. Her name is Winifred Duncan but she says to call her Ms. Winny. "Hi Andi!" my friend Kellie whispered to me. Kellie is my very hyper very happy friend. Her family is in just as much trouble as mine. I don't know if she ignores it or just doesn't care but it's okay if she's happy.

"Hi Kellie, hey um what did we talk about yesterday?" I asked leaning over to her desk. She frowned in annoyance and rolled her eyes saying, "Stupid old boring fractions, but we have a story telling contest. We have to make up a story for class and the winner gets the whole treasure chest!" she grinned widely at me, pointing over at Ms. Winnys desk. There sat a fair sized chest, it was black with gold trimming and looked like a pirates chest.

"She hasn't told us what's in it but the surprise is fun too! Oh and I put our names down for the contest." she whispered quickly sitting back in her chair straight. I looked forward just as she did that and caught sight of Ms. Winny staring at us, clearly upset. She walked towards me shaking her head. The whole class followed her, staring at me, making faces and whispering. "Now now, Miranda is there something you wanted to tell the whole class?"

She looked down at me, hands on her hips, expecting an answer I assume. I shook my head quietly and sat straight in my seat, staring at the pile of papers on my desk. Ms. Winny went back to the front board and sure enough fractions were wrote on it. Some boy behind me tapped my shoulder and went 'Psst' in my ear. I turned around confused, "Pass the papers back." he said in a duh tone. I looked at my desk then back at him, passing him the rest of the papers I looked back to the teacher. Hours passed and I still had no idea how to do fractions and the new book we're reading made no sense when you start in the middle. If 3rd grade is hard now, I'll never be ready for middle school.
