Start Anew

You claim this as a truth,
You say you have proof,
That I could,
That I should,
Start life anew.

At that I laugh at you.
For this is simply untrue.
Because you see,
I hate you,
And you hate me.
And that is very much true.

Sure we were friends,
Trying to make amends,
But the keyword is were,
Of that is sure.
This is now,
And that was then.
We are no longer friends.

But you try and try again,
Telling me that I can sart again.
Saying I can start anew,
But that is simply untrue.

Sometimes though: I wonder,
I ponder,
I wonder if what you say is true,
That I can actually start anew.
If we can again be friends,
Making amends.
I'll even take frenemies,
Over being complete enemies.

But this world is warped and cruel,
And you are nothing but a fool,
To think i can start life anew.
I have seen too much,
Said too much,
Done  too much.

No matter how much I wish to be friends,
Making amends,
It is not true,
For me to start anew.

But not for you,
YOU can still start again
You can bridge this gap,
You can fill this void,
And YOU can start anew,
Then, and only then,
Can we be friends again.
