Chapter 11

As soon as I got home, I rushed to my room. I was ready to just take a shower and go to sleep. I couldn't help but think back to what Carter had told me. In a sense it hurt to think that maybe, just maybe he still had feelings for Carmen. I sighed as I looked at myself in my bathroom mirror.

"Melody, is that you?"

"Yes mom I'm in my room."

"Okay sweetheart I was just making sure that there weren't any thieves in the house."

I couldn't help but smile. My mom was always being superstitious every single time she heard a noise when she thought she was alone. Heck it's my own fault for not letting her know i was home already.

I got out of my clothes and hopped in the shower. I let the warm water run over my body. I felt tired, and in a way stressed. After getting all nice and clean, I put on my pajamas and plush slippers. I made my way to my bed, before dropping myself on it. I grabbed my phone that I had placed on my nightstand before I had gotten in the shower.

I had a new text message, and ironically it was from Carter.

::Hey...

I wonder what he wanted. What was with the dot dot dot? Did he think I was angry? Is he angry? Ugh! Melody you are so stupid sometimes just reply to the freaking text.

::Hey.

It wasn't even a minute later when I felt my phone vibrate.

::Why did you give me money before you took off? Btw...not cool. :(

::I'm sorry. :/ It just didn't feel right with me letting you pay for everything and all...

::Well I wanted to pay for you, sue me. :p Lol i'll give it back tomorrow. Uhm, I have a question for you though..

::Maybe I will sue. ;) No need to give me the money back though, keep it. && yeah...?

::Will you please tell me?

Crap. I knew he would ask again eventually. Unfortunately for me, it was sooner rather than later. I decided to play dumb. It was worth a try I guess.

::Tell you what?

::You know what...

::Oh you mean why I was jumping from the zombies when they popped out of nowhere? Well I mean come on now...it was pretty scary.

::Melody..Just tell me. It's not like i'll get angry or anything. I know how Carmen can be and if she was rude in any way to you, I would really appreciate it if you would just tell me.

So he wasn't angry? I felt relieved, but also stupid for assuming before even knowing, but what I still wasn't so sure of was whether or not he still had feelings for her. If I recall correctly, I believe he had told me that he had broken things off with her. Then again maybe his feelings for her have been renewed somehow? Whatever, I would just tell him the truth.

::Well it goes both ways actually. :/

::How so?

::Well I did what I did only because it was self defense... I kind of felt bad afterward though. :(

::What happened?

I told him everything that happened. How she tripped me out of nowhere and how her and her little friends were just standing there laughing at me. I also told him about what I had told her about her face. I even apologized to him, just in case he would get mad, seeing as maybe he did still have feelings for her.

::Wait, why are you apologizing to me? She deserved it. I'm proud of you Melody. I wouldn't be able to stand it if she insulted you and got away with it. Nice comeback btw. ;)

I felt my heart skip a beat. So he didn't have feelings for her? I was feeling excited and happy at the same time.

::Lol thanks I guess.

::Well i'll let you sleep now. I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight. Have a sweet dream....about me ;)

I felt myself blush as I put my phone to charge. It vibrated again though and I couldn't help but blush even harder after I read what he had sent.

::PS: I know you're blushing. don't worry, it just adds more to your adorableness. <3

Carter Harrison....was something else.
