CHAPTER ONE

PUPPIES AND KITTENS

"Our last goodbye was never said."

==================================

"This is a world wide alert. Stand by for important information. The president is dead. This is an extinction scale evacuation. Do not panic. 3 years after the first infection, national governments have fallen. There is no cure."

That was the last broadcast that was sent out, before all and any communication was lost. Cheshire chuckles lightly at the memory of the broadcast, it bringing back memories of the first few weeks of the apocalypse.

Death had taken control of those who passed like a puppeteer would a puppet and panic did the same for those who survived. But not too long after everything happened, a week or so, that panic turned into desperation.

People grew more and more desperate for survival, their morals being thrown out the window as the thought of turning into a mindless flesh eating Z fueled their desire to live.

But to her, it was no longer about living. It's about surviving. Trying to actually live in this Hell driven world was like trying to hear the TV with screaming kids in the room. Impossible.

Because with every passing day, things became more rare and more difficult to find. Food is so scarce that she'd have to live off one can, of whatever she could find, for a week. And guns with bullets are about as rare as food.

And surviving was just as hard, especially since the apocalypse left it's mark on her.

She has multiple scars on her body. One goes diagonal from her left boob to her right hip. Another trails up the back of her right leg. 3 more on her right arm in a claw like fashion. 5 on her left. One goes down her back and another under her chin.

Her vibrant emerald eyes complement her French braided dark brown hair and her olive tone skin. Her once healthy and curvy figure has turned into skin and bone, more than likely from the lack of food.

She wears a pair of blue blood-stained jeans and a red t-shirt, with a black hoodie tied around her waist and black combat boots.

A utility belt equipped with two hand guns, three knives, a pouch with bullets and a radio. She has two doubled bladed knives hidden in each boot. Knives are hidden in her sleeves and in her pant legs. A sniper rifle are hangs over her shoulder along with a backpack full of supplies. A bandanna covers her nose and leather gloves cover her fingers.

Her loyal German Sheppard, Buddy, never left her side no matter where she went. Through the struggles of the apocalypse he stayed loyal and caring no matter what happened. No matter how many Z's tried to eat the both of them, no matter how many people tried to kill them, he protected her from everything.
