Today we will learn about Double Consonant. Double consonant is simply two of the same consonant combined together. The only different from their single counterparts is that the double consonant are more stressed when pronounced. Just take a short pause before saying them to make the sound tensed. There are 5 double consonant which are ㄲ,ㄸ,ㅃ,ㅆ,ㅉ.So let's start.

ㄲ[KK]
is pronounced as [kk] in the word 'skip'.

ㄸ[DD]
Think of as [tt] in the word "stop".

ㅃ[PP]
is pronounced like [pp] in the word 'spa'.

ㅆ[SS]
is pronounced as [ss] in the word 'sun'.

ㅉ[JJ]
Think of as [jj] in the word 'pretzel'.

Next we gonna learn 6 vowels. There are 왜,외,웨,워,위,의.

왜[wae]
is the combination of ㅗ[o] and ㅐ[e], so it is pronounced like [wae] in the word 'wet'.

외[wae]
Unfortunately,is pronounced differently than it may look. Keep in mind sound the same as 왜[wae].

웨[wae]
is the combination of [u] and [e]. Think of as [wae] sound in the word 'wet'. In brief,왜,외 and have the same sound despite having different parts.

워[wo]
is the combination of ㅜ[u] and ㅓ[eo],so it is pronounced as [wo] in the word 'whoa'.

의[ui]
is the combination of ㅡ[eu] and ㅣ[i] ,so it is pronounced like 'uh-ee'.
